What happens when Indonesian schoolchildren read the same book that Danish children use to learn about Indonesia? 📚🇩🇰🇮🇩

Last June, the Royal Danish Embassy in Jakarta visited a primary school in North Jakarta to share educational materials developed as part of the 2025 Danish Christmas Calendar (U-landskalender) project.

Over two days, 45 students learned about Denmark through presentations, games, and storytelling. They also read Forsvundet i Jakarta, which the Embassy translated into Bahasa Indonesia as Hilang di Jakarta, allowing them to see how their country is presented to Danish children.

Here’s what they had to say. 💚

Yesterday, we said goodbye to our Environment Sector Counselor, Erika Torres Luquin as she wrapped up her time at the Embassy in Jakarta. 👋💚

Today, 14 July 2026, the Embassy of Denmark in Indonesia witnessed the official launch of the partnership between PT Sulawesi Optima Wirakarya (PT SOW PT Sulawesi Optima Wirakarya) and the Danish company DanBred, marking the establishment of the Indonesia–Denmark Swine Genetics Partnership in Jakarta.

This milestone celebrates the arrival of breeding pigs in Indonesia for the first time in decades and reflects the strong and growing agricultural cooperation between Denmark and Indonesia. We congratulate both partners on this significant achievement and hope that the partnership will support the sustainable development of Indonesia’s livestock sector while contributing to the country’s food security goals.

We thank all partners whose dedication, close collaboration, and shared vision made this achievement possible.

Last week, The Royal Danish Embassy in Jakarta spent to inspiring days at an elementary school in North Jakarta, SDN Rawa Badak Selatan 05, as part of the Danish Christmas Calendar (U-landskalender) Project.

Together with 45 students from Grade 4 and 5, Ambassador Sten Frimodt Nielsen and embassy colleagues had an intercultural exchange, exploring Denmark and Danish culture through presentations, quizzes and storytelling. The embassy shared what Danish schoolchildren have been learning about Indonesian culture through three Indonesian folklore which the children performed as a puppet theatre, there were discussions about climate change and how it affects everyday life in Jakarta.

🇩🇰🇮🇩 Indonesia was selected as the focus country for the 2025 Christmas Calendar Project. Throughout 2026, Danish schoolchildren will learn about Indonesia as a country its rich culture and the effect of global climate changes to children in Indonesia. The project was launched by the Danish Foreign Minister’s visit to Indonesia in April 2025.

We’re grateful to the students, teachers, and everyone who helped make these two days of learning, creativity, and cultural exchange such a memorable experience. 💙

Orangutan conservation is often measured in milestones: a rescue, a recovery, a release back into the wild. But behind every milestone, there is a team of dedicated people working everyday to make it possible.

This month, we shine a light on the many individuals whose commitment, expertise, and care help give rescued orangutans a second chance. Their work may happen behind the scenes, but it is an important part of protecting one of Indonesia’s most iconic, yet endangered, species and the forests they call home.

5 June is Constitution Day in Denmark 🇩🇰

It is the closest we come to a national day. It is the day where we celebrate and appreciate our democracy, and where we remind ourselves of the importance of actively passing on our civic rights and duties to the future generations 🎉

The day is celebrated with flag-raising ceremonies, which often feature group singing, speeches, and local politicians engaging with their constituents 🇩🇰

This year’s Constitution Day comes just days after Denmark formed a new government, making it a timely reminder of the importance of democratic institutions and civic participation.
