🕊️ Commemoration of the End of the Second World War | 15 August 2026

On 15 August 2026, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Indonesia, together with the Netherlands War Graves Foundation in Indonesia, will organize solemn commemorations marking the end of the Second World War.

The commemorations will take place at three Netherlands War Graves Cemeteries across the archipelago, in Jakarta, Semarang, and Surabaya, bringing together communities in remembrance and reflection.

Together, we will honor the enduring legacy of the war victims, reflect on the profound lessons history has left us, and reaffirm our shared commitment to a peaceful future.

Bridging Nations, Building the Future

We had a memorable evening celebrating the LPDP-Netherlands Joint Scholarship 2026 awardees, hosted by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Dutch Embassy Adriaan Palm on July 28, 2026. The scholarships are a collaboration between the Indonesian and Dutch governments and the Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education (Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan/ Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan). The selected future leaders are preparing to embark on Master’s programs in the Netherlands, focusing on critical bilateral priorities such as water management and agriculture. 🎓

At the same time, we were thrilled to host a Homecoming Celebration to welcome back our 2024 alumni cohort. These scholars have officially returned home to fulfil their commitment, bringing world-class expertise to drive Indonesia’s national development and downstream industries and to further develop the Netherlands-Indonesia relationship. 🇳🇱🇮🇩

We thank the Indonesian government through LPDP for this partnership. We wish both cohorts every success and hope that they will build bridges between the two nations.

Zorg voor een vlot verloop van uw reis met de officiële tips van de Koninklijke Marechaussee. Bereid u voor op de grenscontroles en voorkom vertragingen. Hier zijn de belangrijkste adviezen voor een soepele grenspassage:

•Check uw documenten: Controleer vooraf de geldigheid van uw paspoort of ID-kaart. Een rijbewijs is geen geldig reisdocument.

•Voorspoedige reis: Houd uw paspoort gereed voordat u deze aanbiedt en verwijder uw paspoort eventueel uit het hoesje. Dit bevordert de doorstroom van alle passagiers.

•Maak gebruik van de zelfservice: Bent u 14 jaar of ouder? Voor uw reis vanaf Schiphol kunt u met een biometrisch paspoort gebruik maken van de Self Service Paspoort Controle.

•Toestemming minderjarigen: Reist u alleen met minderjarige kinderen? Zorg dan dat u de ingevulde toestemmingsformulieren voor het reizen met minderjarigen bij de hand heeft.

Het is belangrijk om op tijd te beginnen met uw paspoort aanvraag, zodat u niet zonder geldig paspoort of ID-kaart komt te zitten.

Goed om te weten:
✅ U hoeft niet te wachten tot uw oude paspoort of ID-kaart is verlopen.
U mag altijd eerder een nieuw paspoort of ID-kaart aanvragen.
Begin bij voorkeur 6 maanden voordat u uw nieuwe paspoort of ID-kaart nodig heeft met aanvragen.
✅ Bij alle aanvragen ingediend in het buitenland dient opnieuw te worden gecheckt of u Nederlander bent. Omdat u niet (meer) bij een Nederlandse gemeente staat ingeschreven, moet u extra documenten aanleveren. Dit kost meer tijd.
✅ Het verzamelen van documenten en deze eventueel laten legaliseren kan veel tijd kosten.
Bekijk daarom vooraf goed wat u nodig heeft en begin op tijd met verzamelen.

🌊 What does it look like when diplomacy meets the ocean?

Last week, our Deputy Ambassador Adriaan Palm dove into North Sulawesi alongside European Union Ambassadors, visiting fishing communities, coral reefs, and local leaders to see how the Netherlands and the EU are helping protect Indonesia's incredible marine world.

The answer? Conservation works best when communities are at the heart of it. 🐠🌿

📍 Bangka Island: sat with local fishermen to explore how protecting the sea can also protect their livelihoods. Spoiler: it can.

📍 Tomohon City: from a flower festival to geothermal energy to a century-old church, a reminder that the Dutch-Indonesian connection runs deep: and keeps growing.

🌏 Together with Indonesia's Ministry of Forestry, KfW, and WCS Indonesia, here's what this EU-funded program has achieved since 2019:

✅ 9 marine protected areas, 781,000+ hectares safeguarded
✅ 14,000+ ha of coral reefs, 6,000 ha of mangroves & 5,000 ha of seagrass protected
✅ 29 community groups building livelihoods through conservation

Agents have no influence over visa decisions and cannot speed up your application. As an applicant, you are fully and solely responsible for your documents and for being available for interviews or any communication with the Embassy.

🚫 The Embassy and VFS do not cooperate with any travel agencies or individual visa facilitators.

Anyone claiming to "work with" or "have special contacts" at the Dutch authorities is misleading you, and could put your application at risk.

❌ Why you should NOT use a visa agent:

- They cannot influence the decision on your visa
- They cannot make your application faster or improve your chances of approval
- We must be able to reach you directly — if we can't, your application will be refused
