The World Press Photo Exhibition 2026 showcases the stories that matter with award-winning photography from the 69th annual World Press Photo Contest. Amongst the winners are stories you will recognize, stories overlooked, broad perspectives, and intimate insider views, with themes that include conflict, crisis, resistance, resilience, and hidden traditions. Together, these projects form an urgent portrait of our world today.

The regional contest model was launched in 2021 to support a greater diversity of stories and storytellers from around the world, offering a more comprehensive global perspective. Founded in the Netherlands in 1955, World Press Photo is an independent non-profit organization that champions the power of photojournalism and documentary photography to deepen understanding, promote dialogue, and inspire action.

After Jakarta, the exhibition will travel to Pontianak in November. Stay tuned to our social media for more updates.

Consciously and unconsciously, we shape ourselves by what we wear. From a worn-out denim jacket to an extravagant glitter dress, our clothes express how we feel, what we stand for, who we are and who we want to be. Pan~// Catwalk is a performance about the human tendency to label and judge based on appearance. Dutch performance company Zwermers creates multidisciplinary works exploring clothing, gender and identity. Rooted in Tilburg, the collective celebrates the diversity of human expression through performances and installations.

Celebrate the identity and diversity of Muslim women in the Netherlands and their hijab in our book of the month! ๐Ÿ“•

Sociologist and photographer Ebru Aydin brings underrepresented stories of Muslim communities in the Netherlands through her visual storytelling, whether documenting their pilgrimage to Mecca in โ€œLABBAYK: Here I Amโ€ or capturing the stories of hijab. ๐ŸŒ™๐Ÿ•‹๐Ÿง•๐Ÿป

This month, the Erasmus Huis Library spotlights โ€œHijabverhalenโ€ by Ebru Aydin, featuring 21 portraits of Muslim women across the Netherlands. It explores what the hijab truly represents for these women: pride, self-expression, and belonging. With vibrant fabrics and personal narratives, the book reveals the rich complexity of Muslim women in Dutch society. ๐Ÿง•๐Ÿฝ

Read โ€œHijabverhalenโ€ in our Buku Bulan Ini section at the Erasmus Huis Library. You can also still visit the โ€œLABBAYK: Here I Amโ€ exhibition at the Erasmus Huis foyer. ๐Ÿ“–
