Bible Prophecies

Bible Prophecies This is a page containing an article by joint investigation SPIRIT OF PROPHECY of the Seventh-day Adv G. Houteff to be the prophet. White. Victor T. Ellen G.

We have provided here several articles containing the preliminary study into the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY, to enable the Readers who want to have a full perspective into all the prophecies of the Bible and the parables of Jesus, to attain a satisfactory result. As a divinely appointed prophet in this time of the end, Sister Ellen. White is well-known among us as the founder of the Church. Hence she was

also tasked to be our edifier of the body of Christ, and that is the reason why through her the Lord has sent us The Spirit of Prophecy to be the rules of implementation of the Law of the Ten Commandments. It is the Spirit of Prophecy of the message of the third angel of Revelation 14. To this end she said :

“In ancient times God spoke to men by the mouth of prophets and apostles (in the Bible). In these days (in this time of the end) He speaks to them by the testimonies of His Spirit. There was never a time when God instructed His people more earnestly than He instructs them now concerning His will, and the course that He would have them pursue” – Evangelism, p. 255, 256 (In brackets added). The message of the third angel of Revelation 14, however, is not powerful enough to enlighten the earth. It must yet be combined with the message of the powerful angel of Revelation 18 : 1. This is according to the statements of John the Revelator, which have been interpreted later by Sister White in the following words :

“And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.” – Revelation 18 : 1.

“Then I saw another mighty angel commissioned to descend to the earth, to unite his voice with the third angel, and give power and force to his message. Great power and glory were imparted to the angel, and as he descended, the earth was lightened with his glory.…………..This message seemed to be an addition to the third message, joining it as the midnight cry joined the second angel’s message in 1844.” – Early Writings, p. 277. Angel in the book of Revelation stands for several objects. The crying angel symbolizes a message, such as the first, the second, and the third angel of Revelation 14 : 6 – 9. The silent angel always symbolizes a people or a leadership, such as the angel of the Laodicean Church, which symbolizes The General Conference of SDA and all its ministers in the world. If you believe in Sister White and her message of the third angel of Revelation 14, then you must unavoidably believe also in the message of Revelation 18 : 1 and its author Brother Victor T. Both the prophets and their messages (the Spirit of Prophecy by Sister White and the Shepherd’s Rod by Bro. Houteff) are now to be found in the so-called THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY to meet its fulfillment of the prophecy of Revelation 19 : 10 (margin). As the identity of God’s people in this time of the end is clearly shown in the Revelation 12 : 17 and Revelation 19 : 10 (margin) as keepers of the Law and the Testimony of Jesus Christ (which is the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY), then it should be understood that the Spirit of Prophecy by sister White is yet to be complemented with a new and the last message. After studying carefully all the articles provided for you through this website as the introductory lessons, you are then respectfully requested to study right into the publications of THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY yourselves, beginning with the message of the angle of Revelation 18 : 1, to continue with the message of the third angel of Revelation 14 by Sister Ellen G. The last message provided for us by Bro. Houteff, is found in his Shepherd’s Rod publications. This is indeed the core of the whole messages of THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY especially addressed to you and me in this time of the end. However, since the spiritual knowledge of our people in this time of the end is so weak, that in His merciful kindness toward us the Lord would have His divinely appointed ministry provided us with the simplest truths first. This is the reason why the servant of the Lord has instructed the following statement :

"However, in conversing or studying with one whom you know to be a recent convert, you should exercise special care and judgment and tact in presenting only the simplest reform truths first, so as not to bewilder the mind of one who is only a "babe" (a "Maher-shal-al-hash-baz") in the Scriptures." - The Answerer, Book 5, p. 50.

The more you are to be acquainted with the message as the rules of implementation of the Law, the more your knowledge of sin and all its details could be attained. And then everything depends upon you to decide, either to repent to be saved into the Kingdom, or to stay in ignorance for good. White :

“Jesus saves men, n o t in sin, but f r o m sin; and those who love Him will show their love by obedience”. – Review and Herald, vol. 6, p. 45. This means that the Lord would have saved us only with the whole truths. No partial truths could bring salvation to any mankind. If the Lord could have saved us with only partial truths, He should have saved all the people of the world in their partial truths respectfully. And that is illogical, injustice, and illegitimate as well. The Lord through His servant has warned :

"If the law could be changed, man might have been saved without the sacrifice of Christ; but the fact that it was necessary for Christ to give His life for the fallen race, proves that the law of God will not release the sinner from its claims upon him. It is demonstrated that the wages of sin is death. When Christ died, the destruction of Satan was made certain. But if the law was abolished at the cross, as many claim, then the agony and death of God’s dear Son were endured only to give to Satan just what he asked; then the prince of evil triumphed, his charges against the divine government were sustained. The very fact that Christ bore the penalty of man’s transgression is a mighty argument to all created intelligences, that the law is changeless; that God is righteous, merciful, and self-denying; and that infinite justice and mercy unite in the administration of His government." - Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 70.

Happy Sabbath Day...

EXAMINING ANOTHER COMING OF JESUS INTO THIS WORLD OTHER THAN THE ONE GENERALLY UNDERSTOOD FROM THE LIGHT OPENED BY ELLEN G. WHITE

Since Jesus' return to Heaven, all His disciples and the Christian world have longed and eagerly preached His second coming, including the Adventist Church, which emerged last in a series of Christian churches in the series of reformation steps to restore the spiritual condition of His people who had been thrown to the ground in the dark ages of religion. The entire Christian world holds to 1 Thessalonians 4:16, and Adventist pastors also proclaim this verse from the pulpits. However, if we consider that the presence of the Adventist Church, which is the church that fulfills the final stage of reformation, namely fulfilling the symbol of the Laodicean Council and its existence as a result of the beginning of the revelation and fulfillment of Daniel's prophecies, then according to the words of the Angel Gabriel to Daniel ---- we are now in the end times, thus we are in a time when various prophecies written by the old prophets who also existed in the time of Jesus are now being revealed one by one before us.

Therefore, let us see from the eyes of Ellen G. White regarding the coming of Jesus which is being awaited by the entire Christian world, do we who have had various revelations of prophecies know more about the demands of facing His coming or does our knowledge remain the same as the disciples of Jesus in the past and the majority of Christian churches who hold to 1 Thessalonians 4:16? The following is the guidance of God's word given to Ellen G. White regarding His coming:

While the investigative judgment takes place in heaven, while the sins of penitent believers are removed from the holy place, there will be a special work of purification, of removing sin, among God's people in this world. This work is even more clearly stated in the message of Revelation 14.

When this work is done, Christ's followers will be ready for His coming. "Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years." (Malachi 3:4) Then the church that the Lord will receive to Himself at His coming will present itself before Himself in splendor, without spot or blemish or any such thing. Then it will appear like the dawn, beautiful as the full moon, shining like the sun, and terrible as an army with banners.

In addition to the Lord's coming into His temple, Malachi also predicted His second coming, His coming to carry out the decree of judgment, in the following words, “And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.” (Malachi 3:5). Jude also referred to the same scene when he said: “And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” (Jude 14,15). This coming and the coming of the Lord into His temple, are distinct and separate events.

“The coming of Christ as our high priest to the most holy place, for the cleansing of the sanctuary, brought to view in Daniel 8:14; the coming of the Son of man to the Ancient of Days, as presented in Daniel 7:13; and the coming of the Lord to His temple, foretold by Malachi, are descriptions of the same event; and this is also represented by the coming of the bridegroom to the marriage, described by Christ in the parable of the ten virgins, of Matthew 25. --- The Great Controversy, 445, 446.

NOTE :
The quote above shows that apart from the coming that has been known and is being awaited by the entire Christian world, it has shown us that the coming of Jesus will happen twice, it turns out that there is still another coming, namely the coming that is predicted in Malachi chapter 3, namely His coming to His Temple on earth (His church) and the second coming for the whole world, from this quote Ellen G. White has classified the verses as follows:

a. Revelation 14: intended for the cleansing of the seventh day of adventist church (His Tample) (of course what is meant is verses 15-20),
b. Malachi 3 contains two comings of God, to His temple and His second coming, namely verses 1-4 to His temple and verse 5 the second coming),
c. Jude 1:14, 15 applies to the second coming,
d. Daniel 8:14; Daniel 7:13 and Matthew 25 predict His coming to the temple.

From Ellen G. White's description above, we also get the understanding that this coming to His Temple is an arrival that precedes the coming which is already widely known from 1 Thessalonians 4:16, and it appears that the coming to His Temple is intended to carry out a purification that is taking place in Judah and Jerusalem, so it is clear that His Temple is only intended for a congregation of church members in the end times which is predicted by Judah and Jerusalem, not to all the churches that exist today.

Regarding the purification that He will carry out on His temple, Ellen G. White said:

“But the days of purification of the church are hastening on apace. God will have a people pure and true. In the mighty sifting soon to take place we shall be better able to measure the strength of Israel. The signs reveal that the time is near when the Lord will manifest that His fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His floor.” --- Testimonies For The Church, vol. 5, p. 80.

“.… Oh, that every lukewarm professor could realize the clean work that God is about to make among His professed people!” --- Testimonies For The Church, vol. 1, p. 190.

“Angels keep a faithful record of every man’s work, and as judgment passes upon the house of God, the sentence of each is recorded by his name, and the angel is commissioned to spare not the unfaithful servants, but to cut them down at the time of slaughter.” --- Testimonies for The Church, vol. 1, p. 198.

“Here we see that the church—the Lord’s sanctuary—was the first to feel the stroke of the wrath of God. The ancient men, those to whom God had given great light and who had stood as guardians of the spiritual interests of the people, had betrayed their trust…….These dumb dogs that would not bark are the ones who feel the just vengeance of an offended God. Men, maidens, and little children all perish together.” --- Testimonies For The Church, vol. 5, pp. 211, 212.

“The work of destruction begins among those who have professed to be the spiritual guardians of the people. The false watchmen are the first to fall. There are none to pity or to spare. Men, women, maidens, and little children perish together.” ---- The Great Controversy, p. 656.

“While the investigative judgment is going forward in heaven, while the sins of penitent believers are being removed from the sanctuary, there is to be a special work of purification, of putting away of sin, among God’s people upon earth. This work is more clearly presented in the messages of Revelation 14.” --- The Great Controversy, p. 425.

Note:
From a brief examination of Ellen G. White's instructions regarding the Lord's action in lighting His temple, we discover that because this action precedes His coming, which is known throughout the world, and His coming in this temple is apparently intended for His return to Judah and the end times, which is the Advent Church, namely the fulfillment of the Laodicean church, then understanding what things must be embraced, studied, and practiced so that we can escape the events that will occur before us, is our top priority in our religion today, so that we no longer drift continuously in the PEACE that is constantly echoed by preachers from the pulpits of the church.

The following advice is given to us by Ellen G. White, so that we immediately open our eyes, reflect on our situation, the majority of which are still POOR, BLIND and NAKED:

“The truth and the glory of God are inseparable; it is impossible for us, with the Bible within our reach, to honor God by erroneous opinions. Many claim that it matters not what one believes, if his life is only right. But the life is moulded by the faith. If
light and truth are within our reach, and we neglect to improve the privilege of hearing and seeing it, we virtually reject it; we are choosing darkness rather than light.” --- The Great Controversy, pp. 595, 597.

“The very last deception of Satan will be to make of none effect the testimony of the Spirit of God. “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). Satan will work ingeniously, in different ways and through different agencies, to unsettle the confidence of God’s remnant people in the true testimony.” --- Letter 12, 1890, Selected Messages Book 1, 48 (1890).

“But if we despise and neglect these appointments and privileges, God will not work a miracle to save any of us, and we will be lost as were Judas and Satan.

Do not think that God will work a miracle to save those weak souls who cherish evil, who practice sin; or that some supernatural element will be brought into their lives, lifting them out of self into a higher sphere, where it will be comparatively easy work, without any special effort, any special fighting, without any crucifixion of self; because all who dally on Satan’s ground for this to be done will perish with the evildoers. They will be suddenly destroyed, and that without remedy.” --- Testimonies to Ministers, p. 453.

“.…….The messages from heaven are of a character to arouse opposition. The faithful witnesses for Christ and the truth will reprove sin. Their words will be like a hammer to break the flinty heart, like a fire to consume the dross. There is constant need of earnest, decided messages of warning. God will have men who are true to duty. At the right time He sends His faithful messengers to do a work similar to that of Elijah.” --- Testimonies for The Church, vol. 5, p. 254.

“How many men in this age of the world fail to go deep enough. They only skim the surface. They will not think closely enough to see difficulties and grapple with them, and will not examine every important subject which comes before them with thoughtful, prayerful study and with sufficient caution and interest to see the real point at issue. They talk of matters which they have not fully and carefully weighed.” --- Testimonies for The Church, vol. 4, p. 361.

There are still many questions that we need to ask in discussing this material, including: WHO IS GOD'S MESSENGER WHO WAS SENT Ahead to Prepare the Way for His Arrival to the House of Allah? then WITH WHAT WILL HE PREPARE THE PEOPLE TO STAND ENDURE? and other questions.

Thus, a brief discussion of His Coming, which so far is unknown to most people, even though this coming is very decisive, without knowing this coming and the things that He will do, makes EACH OF US PRESENCE IN THE SECOND COMING, WHICH CHRISTIANS IN GENERAL HOLD FOR A LONG TIME FROM 1 THESSALONIANS 4:16 ----------BECOME NEVER TO EXIST.

HAPPY SABBATH DAY …

HOLINESS A COMPANION OF HUMILITY

“Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5.

How many cling with tenacious grasp to their self-termed dignity, which is only self-esteem. These seek to honor themselves instead of waiting in humbleness of heart for Christ to honor them. In conversation more time is spent in talking of self than in exalting the riches of the grace of Christ....

True holiness and humility are inseparable. The nearer the soul comes to God, the more completely is it humbled and subdued. When Job heard the voice of the Lord out of the whirlwind, he exclaimed, “I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes” (Job 42:6). It was when Isaiah saw the glory of the Lord and heard the cherubim crying, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts,” that he cried out, “Woe is me! for I am undone” (Isaiah 6:3, 5). Daniel, when visited by the holy messenger, says, “My comeliness was turned in me into corruption” (Daniel 10:8). Paul, after he was caught up into the third heaven and heard things that it was not lawful for a man to utter, speaks of himself as “less than the least of all saints” (Ephesians 3:8). It was the beloved John, who leaned on Jesus’ breast and beheld His glory, who fell as one dead before the angel. The more closely and continuously we behold our Saviour, the less shall we see to approve in ourselves. --- The Review and Herald, December 20, 1881.

He who catches a glimpse of the matchless love of Christ counts all other things as loss, and looks upon Him as the chiefest among ten thousand and as the one altogether lovely. As seraphim and cherubim look upon Christ, they cover their faces with their wings. Their own perfection and beauty are not displayed in the presence and glory of their Lord. Then how improper it is for men to exalt themselves! Let them rather be clothed with humility, cease all strife for supremacy, and learn what it means to be meek and lowly of heart. He who contemplates God's glory and infinite love, will have humble views of himself, but by beholding the character of God, he will be changed into His divine image.--- The Review and Herald, February 25, 1896.

“The good-ground hearer receives the word “not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God.” 1 Thessalonians 2:13. Only he who receives the Scriptures as the voice of God speaking to himself is a true learner. He trembles at the word; for to him it is a living reality. He opens his understanding and his heart to receive it. Such hearers were Cornelius and his friends, who said to the apostle Peter, “Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.” Acts 10:33. A knowledge of the truth depends not so much upon strength of intellect as upon pureness of purpose, the simplicity of an earnest, dependent faith.….…………The good-ground hearers, having heard the word, keep it. Satan with all his agencies of evil is not able to catch it away. Merely to hear or to read the word is not enough. He who desires to be profited by the Scriptures must meditate upon the truth that has been presented to him. By earnest attention and prayerful thought he must learn the meaning of the words of truth, and drink deep of the spirit of the holy oracles.” — Christ’s Object Lessons hal. 59

WHAT LACK I?
Luke 18:18-27

A"nd a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" --- Luke 18:18.

The young man who asked Jesus what he should do that he might have eternal life was answered: “Keep the commandments.” --- Testimonies for the Church 4:219, 220.

The character of God is expressed in His law; and in order for you to be in harmony with God, the principles of His law must be the spring of your every action....

To the words, “Keep the commandments,” the young man answered, “Which?” ... Christ was speaking of the law given from Sinai. He mentioned several commandments from the second table of the Decalogue....

The young man answered without hesitation, “All these things have I kept from my youth up; what lack I yet?” His conception of the law was external and superficial. Judged by a human standard, he had preserved an unblemished character. To a great degree his outward life had been free from guilt; he verily thought that his obedience had been without a flaw. Yet he had a secret fear that all was not right between his soul and God. This prompted the question, “What lack I yet?”

“If thou wilt be perfect,” Christ said, “go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven, and come and follow Me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful; for he had great possessions.”

The lover of self is a transgressor of the law. This Jesus desired to reveal to the young man, and He gave him a test that would make manifest the selfishness of his heart. He showed him the plague spot in his character. The young man desired no further enlightenment. He had cherished an idol in the soul; the world was his god. He professed to have kept the commandments, but he was destitute of the principle which is the very spirit and life of them all. He did not possess true love for God or man. This want was the want of everything that would qualify him to enter the kingdom of heaven. In his love of self and worldly gain he was out of harmony with the principles of heaven. --- Christ's Object Lessons 391, 392.

COME AND SEE
John 1:29-51

Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. John 1:45.

Philip called Nathanael.... If Nathanael had trusted to the rabbis for guidance, he would never have found Jesus. It was by seeing and judging for himself that he became a disciple. So in the case of many today whom prejudice withholds from good. How different would be the result if they would “come and see”! ...

Like Nathanael, we need to study God's word for ourselves, and pray for the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. He who saw Nathanael under the fig tree will see us in the secret place of prayer. Angels from the world of light are near to those who in humility seek for divine guidance.

With the calling of John and Andrew and Simon, of Philip and Nathanael, began the foundation of the Christian church. John directed two of his disciples to Christ. Then one of these, Andrew, found his brother, and called him to the Saviour. Philip was then called, and he went in search of Nathanael. These examples should teach us the importance of personal effort, of making direct appeals to our kindred, friends, and neighbors....

There are many who need the ministration of loving Christian hearts. Many have gone down to ruin who might have been saved if their neighbors, common men and women, had put forth personal effort for them. Many are waiting to be personally addressed. In the very family, the neighborhood, the town, where we live, there is work for us to do as missionaries for Christ. If we are Christians, this work will be our delight. No sooner is one converted than there is born within him a desire to make known to others what a precious friend he has found in Jesus. The saving and sanctifying truth cannot be shut up in his heart....

Now that Jesus has ascended to heaven, His disciples are His representatives among men, and one of the most effective ways of winning souls to Him is in exemplifying His character in our daily life.... A consistent life, characterized by the meekness of Christ, is a power in the world. --- The Desire of Ages, 139-142.

A LIVING SACRIFICE
Luke 1:13-15; Luke 3:1-9

With eyes wide open to the mercies of God, I beg you, my brothers, as an act of intellig"ent worship, to give him your bodies, as a living sacrifice, consecrated to him and acceptable by him." --- Romans 12:1, Phillips.

The Lord has been calling the attention of His people to health reform. This is one of the great branches of the work of preparation for the coming of the Son of man. John the Baptist went forth in the spirit and power of Elijah to prepare the way of the Lord....
John separated himself from friends and from the luxuries of life. The simplicity of his dress, a garment woven of camel's hair, was a standing rebuke to the extravagance and display of the Jewish priests, and of the people generally. His diet, purely vegetable, of locusts and wild honey, was a rebuke to the indulgence of appetite and the gluttony that everywhere prevailed.... Those who are to prepare the way for the second coming of Christ are represented by faithful Elijah, as John came in the spirit of Elijah to prepare the way for Christ's first advent. The great subject of reform is to be agitated.... Temperance in all things is to be connected with the message, to turn the people of God from their idolatry, their gluttony, and their extravagance in dress and other things.

The self-denial, humility, and temperance required of the righteous, whom God especially leads and blesses, is to be presented to the people in contrast to the extravagant, health-destroying habits of those who live in this degenerate age.... There is nowhere to be found so great a cause of physical and moral degeneracy as a neglect of this important subject. Those who indulge appetite and passion, and close their eyes to the light for fear they will see sinful indulgences which they are unwilling to forsake, are guilty before God. Whoever turns from the light in one instance hardens his heart to disregard the light upon other matters. Whoever violates moral obligations in the matter of eating and dressing prepares the way to violate the claims of God in regard to eternal interests. Our bodies are not our own. God has claims upon us to take care of the habitation He has given us, that we may present our bodies to Him a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable. --- Testimonies for the Church 3:61-63.

WHAT MADE HIM GREAT?
Matthew 11:7-15

"Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he." --- Matthew 11:11.

What was it that made John the Baptist great? He closed his mind to the mass of tradition presented by the teachers of the Jewish nation, and opened it to the wisdom which comes from above. --- Counsels to Parents, Teachers, and Students, 445.

John the Baptist was not fitted for his high calling as the forerunner of Christ by association with the great men of the nation in the schools of Jerusalem. He went out into the wilderness, where the customs and doctrines of men could not mold his mind, and where he could hold unobstructed communion with God. --- Fundamentals of Christian Education, 123.

John the Baptist was a man filled with the Holy Ghost from his birth, and if there was anyone who could remain unaffected by the corrupting influences of the age in which he lived, it was surely he. Yet he did not venture to trust his strength; he separated himself from his friends and relatives, that his natural affections might not prove a snare to him. He would not place himself unnecessarily in the way of temptation nor where the luxuries or even the conveniences of life would lead him to indulge in ease or to gratify his appetite, and thus lessen his physical and mental strength....

He subjected himself to privation and solitude in the wilderness, where he could preserve the sacred sense of the majesty of God by studying His great book of nature.... It was an atmosphere calculated to perfect moral culture and to keep the fear of the Lord continually before him. John, the forerunner of Christ, did not expose himself to evil conversation and the corrupting influences of the world. He feared the effect upon his conscience, that sin might not appear to him so exceedingly sinful. He chose rather to have his home in the wilderness, where his senses would not be perverted by his surroundings. Should we not learn something from this example of one whom Christ honored and of whom He said: “Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist”? --- Testimonies for the Church 4:108, 109.

IN LINE WITH THE WORD

“But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”(Matthew 15:9)

“Those who desire to know the truth have nothing to fear from the investigation of the word of God. But upon the threshold of investigation of the word of God, inquirers after truth should lay aside all prejudice, and hold in abeyance all preconceived opinion, and open the ear to hear the voice of God from His messenger. Cherished opinions, long-practiced customs and habits, are to be brought to the test of the Scriptures; and if the word of God opposes your views, then, for your soul's sake, do not wrest the Scriptures, as many do to their soul's destruction in order to make them seem to bear a testimony in favor of their errors. Let your inquiry be, What is truth? not, What have I hitherto believed to be truth? Do not interpret the Scriptures in the light of your former belief, and assert that some doctrine of finite man is truth. Let your inquiry be, What saith the Scriptures?….

Make up your mind that your former theories must change if they are not in harmony with the doctrines of the Bible. You are called upon to put forth diligent effort to discover what is truth. This should not be thought a hard requirement; for men are called upon to toil for their temporal and earthly blessings, and it is not to be expected that we shall find the heavenly treasure unless we are willing to dig in the mines of truth, and exercise all our powers of mind and heart to understand…..

Beware lest you read the word of God in the light of erroneous teaching. It was on this very ground that the Jews made their fatal mistake. They declared that there must be no different interpretation placed upon the Scriptures than that which had been given by the rabbis in former years; and as they had multiplied their traditions and maxims, and had clothed them with sacredness, the word of God was made of no effect through their traditions; and if Jesus Christ, the Word of God, had not come into the world, men would have lost all knowledge of the true God….

It is Satan's studied plan to pervert the Scriptures, and to lead men to put a false construction on the words of God……All articles of faith, all doctrines and creeds, however sacred they have been regarded, are to be rejected if they contradict the plain statements of the word of God….” --- Review and Herald, 25 Maret 1902

Note :
Through this reading, Ellen G. White is tasked to awaken us who are in the last church, the Laodicean church to evaluate and be aware of the work of Satan in his last efforts. This warning forces us all to be careful, because we are the Laodicean church, we are not the Philadelphian church, the Laodicean church has been shown in the prophecy of Revelation chapter 3 starting from the Angel The church already feels rich and does not need anything else, even though their condition according to God's standards is lacking which is said in the language of prophecy as POOR, BLIND and NAKED.

Ellen G. White reminds us of the example of the time when Jesus came, the Jews had been fenced off by “They declared that there must be no different interpretation placed upon the Scriptures than that which had been given by the rabbis in former years;”, from this warning Ellen G. White indirectly wants to inform us that A MESSAGE OF TRUTH WILL COME FROM GOD TO HIS PEOPLE IN THIS LAODICEAN CHURCH PERIOD, for that reason Ellen G. White reminds us to “should lay aside all prejudice, and hold in abeyance all preconceived opinion, and open the ear to hear the voice of God from His messenger.”

Brothers and sisters, pay attention to the words above!.......THE VOICE OF GOD FROM HIS MESSENGER, this statement clearly shows that there will be another MESSENGER who will be sent to bring a message, that is why Ellen G. White suggests that we ask the question “Let your inquiry be, What is truth?" then because Ellen G. White continued her question by asking “Let your inquiry be, What saith the Scriptures?", indicating the presence of HIS MESSENGER with THAT TRUTH who will later be brought to the Laodicean church on the basis that it has been predicted in the SCRIPTURE.

Then at the end of Ellen G. White's writing we read “All articles of faith, all doctrines and creeds, however sacred they have been regarded, are to be rejected if they contradict the plain statements of the word of God….” Showing that the new truth that was to come to the Laodicean church would contradict the understanding they already had, and what we must be willing to understand from Ellen G. White's short writing is that ... ARTICLES OF FAITH, DOCTRINES, CREEDS that have been understood and believed as truth are actually CONTRADICT THE PLAIN STATEMENTS OF THE WORD OF GOD.

From this short quote, of course, many of our questions are still unanswered, such as WHO IS THE MESSENGER, THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT HE WILL BRING, then WHICH UNDERSTANDING SHOULD WE LEAVE, THROUGH WHOM IS THE MESSENGER'S PRESENCE, IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THE MESSENGER TO COME THROUGH THE LEADERSHIP OF THE LAODECIAN CHURCH WHOSE PROPHECY IS SAID TO BE VALID AND ARROGANT IN NEED OF ANYTHING? Then also IF THE MESSENGER COMES FROM THE ANGELS OF THE LAODECIAN CHURCH, THEN WHY DO WE NEED TO BE REMINDED TO BE VIGILANT AND WILLING TO LEAVE THE UNDERSTANDING THAT HAS BEEN MAINTAINED FOR SO LONG, WON'T ITS PEOPLE AUTOMATICALLY FOLLOWING CHANGES WITHOUT BEING WARNED LIKE THIS WHEN THEY COME FROM THE PODIUM?

Many more questions may arise among those seeking the truth. Hopefully, those of us who long to find the right path will be helped by the Spirit of God to find answers to our thirst for the TRUTH.

WITNESSING
Daniel 1

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. 1 Corinthians 9:27.

As God called Daniel to witness for Him in Babylon, so He calls us to be His witnesses in the world today. In the smallest as well as the largest affairs of life, He desires us to reveal to men the principles of His kingdom. Many are waiting for some great work to be brought to them, while daily they lose opportunities for revealing faithfulness to God. Daily they fail of discharging with wholeheartedness the little duties of life....

In the life of the true Christian there are no nonessentials; in the sight of Omnipotence every duty is important. The Lord measures with exactness every possibility for service. The unused capabilities are just as much brought into account as those that are used. We shall be judged by what we ought to have done, but did not accomplish because we did not use our powers to glorify God.
A noble character is not the result of accident; it is not due to special favors or endowments of Providence. It is the result of self-discipline, of subjection of the lower to the higher nature, of the surrender of self to the service of God and man....

The body is a most important medium through which the mind and the soul are developed for the upbuilding of character. Hence it is that the adversary of souls directs his temptations to the enfeebling and degrading of the physical powers....

The body is to be brought into subjection to the higher powers of the being. The passions are to be controlled by the will, which is itself to be under the control of God. The kingly power of reason, sanctified, by divine grace, is to bear sway in the life. Intellectual power, physical stamina, and the length of life depend upon immutable laws. Through obedience to these laws, man may stand conqueror of himself, conqueror of his own inclinations, conqueror of ... “the rulers of the darkness of this world,” and of “spiritual wickedness in high places.” ---- Prophets and Kings, 487-489.
