Maimun Palace was built in the reign of Sultan Ma’mun Al Rashid Perkasa Alamsyah, the ruler of the Sultanate of Deli from 1873 until 1924, which is the Sultan of Deli IX. Palace Construction began on August 26, 1888, and inaugurated on May 18, 1891. The palace stands on an area of 2772 m² of land, and buildings containing 30 rooms was designed by Dutch architect, named TH Van Erp, which combines e
lements of the cultural heritage of Malay, Islam, Spain, India, and Italy in their design. Buildings Palace is said to be supported by 82 concrete poles and 43 wooden pillars, with some building materials imported directly from Europe. Maimun palace surely must be on the list when you visit the center located in Medan. The Palace is only 10 km from Medan’s Polonia airport, and only a few hundred feet from the Grand Mosque of Medan.
