On 18 August 2026, H.E. Sarah Al Bakri Devadason warmly received H.E. Prof. Dr. Talip Küçükcan, Ambassador of Türkiye to ASEAN. Following Türkiye’s conferment as the 12th ASEAN Dialogue Partner during the 59th AMM/PMC in the Philippines, this marks the first official engagement between Malaysia and Turkiye in its capacity as the country coordinator for ASEAN-Türkiye Dialogue Relations.

Both sides had a productive discussions on the next steps and procedures required to operationalize the dialogue relations. As the country coordinator, Malaysia look forward to working closely together with Türkiye in advancing ASEAN-Türkiye Dialogue Relations.

On 18 August 2026, H.E. Sarah received a courtesy call from H.E. Sashikala Premawardhane, the Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Indonesia and ASEAN.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on strengthening the ties between ASEAN and Sri Lanka, including exploring avenues for closer cooperation and greater engagement beyond the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), of which Sri Lanka is a member.

On 13 August 2026, the Permanent Representative of Malaysia to ASEAN, H.E. Ambassador Datin Sarah Al Bakri Devadason, received a courtesy call from H.E. Kevin Kim, who commenced his official duties as the United States Ambassador to ASEAN in June 2026.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on ASEAN-related developments and issues of mutual interest. The two sides also discussed ways to further strengthen ASEAN-U.S. engagement and cooperation, including through continued collaboration within the ASEAN framework.

On 13 August 2026, H.E. Sarah welcomed Mr Ronaldo George Reario, Head of the OCHA Liaison Office to ASEAN, on a courtesy call following his recent assumption of duty in Jakarta.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on ASEAN–UN cooperation in disaster management and humanitarian assistance, as well as ways to further strengthen coordination between ASEAN and OCHA in Jakarta.

Malaysia looks forward to continued engagement with the OCHA Liaison Office to ASEAN in support of regional disaster preparedness, response and resilience.
