The Nature Club is simply a reflection of what we do and how we've been doing it for since 1999. Friends and family have always told us what a beautiful and peaceful place this is, so the Nature Club is a way to formalise having more people enjoy the beauty. My Mom once said, as she sat by the river listening its soothing sounds, "There would be far fewer problems in the world if everyone could si

t still and listen to this". We agree. So get in touch, come and visit, stay at a cottage (you'll sleep well with the fresh air in your lungs). Locals and visitors from far flung places (New York to Hong Kong) enjoy riding, fishing, walking, writing, photography and landscape painting. Visitors often get given a spade or slasher, to enjoy the experience of living on a rural organic estate. Our cottages are located up the hil from the river, enjoying a panoramic view of rolling hills and Mount Leinster. They are fully furnished and finished to a high standard. Located five minutes' drive from Ardattin, and just over 10 minutes from Ballon, Clonegal and Tullow, the cottags are an ideal base for touring by day and sleeping peacefully by night. Writers and artists have found this to be an ideal creative retreat, and young families have enjoyed the freedom and space of the countryside. The River Slaney is just a few minutes' walk from the cottages, where you can enjoy 3km of private, wooded walks, and fly fishing (trout and salmon) in season. And swimming - but beware of river currents!

Enjoy a varied, experiential course that explores our connections with nature. Participants will expand their own relationship with nature and practice techniques to help their students reconnect with the natural environment.

The course is focused on Education for Sustainable Development and Well-being with application to the curricula of Science, Geography and History.

The course will help you to
Enhance eco-literacy to recognise and express links between curriculum strands and real world.

Deepen teachers’ awareness of the scale, complexity and dynamic of diverse interrelated natural systems of which we are all a part. Reconnect with nature to awaken senses. Plan for a greater level of outdoor education on a weekly basis.

Lower stress and nurture calm engagement among your pupils. Individual learning is enhanced through mindful tools to help teachers observe their own internal responses. This can become an individual practice that affects the school environment. Children can learn and benefit from mindfulness, which promotes self-awareness and wellness in children and is helpful in countering disruptive influences of social media from outside school.

Thanks to everyone who joined us at the event last night, to the Presentation De La Salle,Bagenalstown for hosting us, the CCEN team for organising the evening, and especially our panelists who represented five community & school gardening groups in the county.
