‼️ Major Housing & Infrastructure Investment for County Louth Announced 🏘️🚧

Today, the Government announced significant funding for three key projects in County Louth under the new Housing Infrastructure Investment Fund (HIIF).

These projects will help unlock land for almost 2,500 new homes directly, while also delivering the critical infrastructure needed to support the continued growth of Ardee and Drogheda.

1. Ash Walk Link Road, Ardee 🛣️🏘️

This project will deliver a new 230m link road in Ardee, providing access to residential lands and supporting future development in the town.

🏠 Directly unlocks 52 homes
🏠 Indirectly supports a further 45 homes

The project complements ongoing investment in Ardee, including improvements to Castle Street on the N2 and the development of a new school nearby.

2. Port Access Northern Cross Route – Phase 3, Drogheda 🚗🏗️

This project will deliver the final section of the distributor road network in north Drogheda, including a railway underbridge.

🏠 Directly unlocks 1,840 homes
🏠 Indirectly supports a further 125 homes

Alongside planned investment in DART+ Coastal North, ESB grid upgrades and wastewater infrastructure, this project will play a vital role in supporting future housing growth and improving connectivity across the town.

3. Leonards Cross Junction Upgrade, Drogheda 🚦🏡

The upgrade of the existing junction on the R168 will improve access and traffic flow while opening up land for much-needed housing development.

🏠 Directly unlocks 560 homes
🏠 Indirectly supports a further 189 homes

This is another important piece of infrastructure that will help facilitate sustainable development in north Drogheda.

🏠 359 homes indirectly supported
🏠 2,811 homes enabled overall

Investment in roads, utilities and public infrastructure is essential if we are to deliver the housing our communities need. I welcome this significant investment for County Louth, which will support housing delivery, improve infrastructure and help our communities continue to grow and thrive.

Please drive with caution on Hale Street. Reports of antisocial behaviour with glass bottles being thrown at passing cars. Gardaí have been notified.

There is also broken glass on the road, so take extra care if travelling through the area. 🚗⚠️

There is an accident on the N2 Carrickmacross to Ardee Road outside Dooleys Restaurant. Emergency services are at the scene; this is causing traffic delay backs.

⭐️ Honoured to have been elected as Leas Cathaoirleach of Ardee Municipal District for the 2026/2027 term of office at the Annual General Meeting held in Ardee Civic Offices last week.

🙌 I am looking forward to working with the new Cathaoirleach of Ardee Municipal District Cllr Jim Tenanty for the term ahead.
