Despite living in affluent times with very few real concerns, we see an ever increasing rate of mental and physical illnesses. Increasingly, it seems that modern Western society places value on objects with price tags, rather than the things that really matter. People in society are becoming more self-centred and self-reliant, and advertising all around us tells us that we "deserve" things, and th

at having an "attitude" is cool. Victim mentalities abound, and the focus is on ensuring that we get our share. Food is fast, highly processed and designed by food chemists in kitchens more akin to chemistry labs. The idea behind Homefarm is to provide a place in the world where the important things matter - where some of the gaps of modern life are filled. A place where community, honesty, caring, and sharing are important values; where fresh, nourishing food is produced using organic, sustainable techniques; where "wealth" is determined by spiritual, psychological, and physical wellness; where the environment and our interactions with each other and the world around us matter; and where traditional skills and wisdom are celebrated and shared. In a nutshell, in developing Homefarm, we are driven by the following aims:
- To live a more sustainable life with no adverse social or environmental impacts;
- To produce organic, nutritious foods in a healthy, synthetic-chemical free environment;
- To provide a positive and useful community resource where the benefits of Homefarm can be shared with others;
- To provide a centre for art, culture, sustainable living, and natural health;
- To showcase alternate and green technologies in a non-threatening and attractive way;
- To provide a place of learning where traditional crafts and knowledge are shared and preserved.
