We attended The Unheard 12 Million photo exhibition at Pavee Point, marking International Traveller and Roma Day. A powerful showcase of lived experiences, resilience, and stories from Roma and Traveller communities across EU member states. Massive thank you to the Malahide Lions Club for their very kind donation of €1,500 which was generously matched by Google bringing total donation to €3000.

Donations such as this are a vital support to the women and families we support, in particular being able to support them to access therapies to support their journey to recovery.

Coercive control is a pattern of behavior used to dominate, manipulate, and intimidate someone, often without physical violence. It involves tactics that create fear and dependency, such as:

Isolation – cutting you off from friends, family, or support networks.
Monitoring and surveillance – controlling your movements, communications, or finances.
Gaslighting – making you doubt your own reality or feelings.
Threats and intimidation – using fear to maintain control.
Restricting freedom – limiting choices, autonomy, or access to resources.

These behaviors aim to erode your independence and sense of safety. It is abuse.

If you or someone you know is experiencing coercive control, you are not alone.

Earlier this week we welcomed the announcement that Minister Jim O'Callaghan secured Government approval to publish Jennie’s Law.

This is an important and deeply significant step towards creating a Domestic Violence Register, which would record serious domestic abuse convictions.

For victims and survivors, this has the potential to be a meaningful step forward. It could help people access clearer information about a partner’s history of serious abuse, support earlier recognition of risk, and strengthen safety planning and decision-making. For many, it offers the reassurance of knowing that critical information is not hidden when they are trying to protect themselves or make sense of unsafe situations.

Named in memory of Jennifer Poole, Jennie’s Law carries the weight of a tragedy that should never have happened, and the hope that better awareness may help prevent others from experiencing similar harm.

As a domestic violence service, we recognise the courage and resilience of survivors and the impact that abuse leaves behind. We will continue to stand with those affected and advocate for measures that prioritise safety, dignity, and protection at every stage.

Our Outreach team visited Stanhope Street Primary School in Stoneybatter as part of a school‑organised community event.

The day focused on raising awareness of the different supports available locally and enabling parents to reach out for the support they need.

It was a valuable opportunity to connect with families, share information, and strengthen links between community services and parents.

Events like this play an important role in ensuring families know they are not alone and that support is available when needed.
