Fuel costs keep rising. Families are under more pressure, and Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael refuse to act. That is unacceptable.
Sinn Féin has put forward solutions: cut the cost of petrol, diesel and home heating oil, scrap the carbon tax increase and deliver real support for workers and families.
They need to listen to the thousands of people backing this call and pass our legislation without delay. People can’t wait.
We need leadership and action now

Fuel prices have risen rapidly and Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are still doing nothing. This is unacceptable, particularly after a budget that left workers and families worse off.

People have to be able to heat their home and get to work and that means cutting prices.

Sinn Féin has brought forward legislation to:
 scrap the planned carbon tax increase,
 reduce taxes on petrol, diesel and home heating oil
 end price gouging
 deliver energy credit to all households struggling with soaring costs

The massive hike in home heating oil here is 8 times the EU average

Up to 65% of fuel costs go directly to the government. In a single week they took in €38 million more in VAT as prices soared. So, there are things they can do immediately

This legislation will add to the pressure on FF/FG/Independents to take action to help families. You should contact your local TD/Councillor demanding that they will back legislation to cut costs.

We have to get prices under control and end the rip off.

Background facts

Carbon tax on home heating oil will go up on May 1st by 2.2 cent a litre. This will add €22 to a 1,000-litre refill. People are already paying €183 as a result of carbon taxes on the price of home heating oil .

Our legislation if passed would cut the cost of a full fill (1000litres) of home heating oil by €183. It would cut prices of petrol and diesel by 25c and green diesel by 10c a litre.

Reducing excise duties would cost approximately €100m a month, including VAT.

There has never been a more important time to elect a President who will be independent of Government.

A President who will represent Ireland with pride, courage, and integrity.

A President who will stand for peace, diplomacy, and neutrality.

This Friday, October 24th, vote for a strong, independent voice.
