Go raibh maith agaibh do na bunscoileanna uile a thug cuairt ar an ARC (Seomra Ranga Cianda Dobharshaothraithe), Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Gníomhaireacht Forbartha Bia Mara na hÉireann, SOLAS – Scéalta an Atlantaigh, agus Teach Solais an Fód Dubh an tseachtain seo.

Bhí cúpla lá iontach againn ar an leithinis, áit ar fhoghlaim na páistí faoi oideachas muirí in earnáil bhia mara na hÉireann agus ar bhain siad taitneamh as turais timpeall Theach Solais an Fód Dubh agus Ionad Cuairteoirí SOLAS.

Buíochas speisialta le Dave Ward ó Choimisinéirí Soilse na hÉireann, Ian, Louise, Hugh, Grace agus Bláthnaid ó Bhord Iascaigh Mhara, agus le hEimear agus Seoirsín ó Ghaeilge Iorrais a reáchtáil ceardlann leis na scoileanna Gaeilge freisin.

Tá áthas orainn a bheith páirteach sa chomhpháirtíocht idir Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Coimisinéirí Soilse na hÉireann agus Great Lighthouses of Ireland – ag obair le chéile ar fhor-rochtain oideachais mhuirí faoi earnáil bhia mara na hÉireann agus faoi ról agus tábhacht Áiseanna Loingseoireachta na hÉireann.

Two fantastic and inspiring days spent with our partners at Great Lighthouses of Ireland and the team at Irish Lights ⚓✨

From our annual partners meeting in Dún Laoghaire to workshops, site visits, and shared ideas, it was a brilliant opportunity to connect, collaborate, and look ahead to the year to come.

A highlight was walking out to Dún Laoghaire East Pier Lighthouse and hearing the exciting plans for its future as a visitor experience, along with a visit to the National Maritime Museum of Ireland.

We also travelled across Dublin Bay with Dublin Bay Cruises — taking in spectacular views of the city from the water.

Back on land, we explored Dublin city and visited the iconic Guinness Storehouse, gaining insight into one of Ireland’s leading visitor attractions and how it continues to innovate its visitor experience.

Two days full of ideas, collaboration, and inspiration as we continue to shape unforgettable experiences along Ireland’s coast 🌊

Blacksod Lighthouse Tours – Easter Holidays

We are delighted to announce that Blacksod Lighthouse will be open for guided tours over the Easter holidays from April 2nd to April 12th.

Visitors will have the opportunity to step inside this iconic lighthouse and explore the fascinating history of lighthouse keeping on the wild Atlantic coast. Discover the story of the lighthouse attendant and his wife Maureen Sweeney, whose weather observations from Blacksod in 1944 helped inform the decision to delay and then proceed with the D-Day landings.

The tour also includes a visit to the light room, where you can experience the view from the top and learn how the lighthouse indicated safe anchorage to countless ships sheltering in Blacksod Bay over the decades.

Booking is essential and can be made online at
www.visitblacksodlighthouse.ie
or through reception at the SOLAS Visitor Centre, Eachléim.

We look forward to welcoming you to Blacksod Lighthouse this Easter.

Ar an lá seo i 1866…
Foilsíodh fógra i nuachtáin ag cur in iúl go mbeadh solas nua le feiceáil ar chósta an Atlantaigh — Teach Solais an Fhóid Duibh.

160 bliain ina dhiaidh sin, tá an solas céanna fós ag lonrú.

Seo áit a dtosaíonn an scéal…
