📣 The Board of Moy Valley Resources IRD wishes to announce that CEO Annette Maughan will depart her position at the end of June after fifteen years of service in the community development company.

Annette joined the organisation in 2010 as Community
Employment Supervisor, became Operations Officer at Greenhills Enterprise Centre in 2016, and has been CEO since 2019.

IRD North Mayo West Sligo CLG operating as Moy Valley Resources is a community-led initiative that operates in the North Mayo/West Sligo area. Over the last thirty-six years since its establishment in 1990, it has helped to develop the North Mayo/West Sligo region in the areas of rural regeneration, enterprise growth, social inclusion and employment activation. It has supported community groups and projects, local enterprises and individuals through providing services, expertise, information, advocacy and working in partnership.

During her time with the organisation, Annette played a central role in supporting individuals on their pathway to employment, overseeing the management and development of the Greenhills Enterprise Centre in Ballina, the Quay Business Centre and the company’s industrial centres. She also provided leadership and support to all of the core company programmes including Craoibhín Ballina, Mayo Volunteer Centre, Mayo North Tourism, Ireland, Community Employment and LEADER. A strong advocate for partnership and collaboration, Annette worked closely with organisations across the region to help deliver major projects and events throughout her 15-year tenure such as IQ Ballina, the Ballina 2023 celebrations, the West of Ireland Women's Mini Marathon, and the Ballina Salmon Festival - Mayo. Her commitment to supporting enterprise, community development and regional sustainability has made a lasting impact on Moy Valley Resources and the wider North Mayo region.

Annette has been an exceptional and highly supportive colleague and CEO, recognised for her unwavering commitment to community development and her active involvement across a wide range of local and regional committees and initiatives. She brought an energetic, approachable and compassionate leadership style to her role, fostering strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and community partners alike. A firm believer in collaboration and partnership, Annette consistently championed the empowerment and development of others throughout her career. Her commitment to creating a positive, inclusive and supportive working environment within Moy Valley Resources leaves a lasting legacy of which she can be immensely proud.

On behalf of everyone in the company, the Board thanks Annette wholeheartedly for her service to the organisation and the community in North Mayo/West Sligo, for the rich achievements during her time here, and wishes her every success and fulfilment in her next chapter.

Go raibh maith agat, a Annette. Go n’éirí an bóthar leat.

🤩 🤩 Mayo North Tourism, Ireland is consistent in its high quality, consistent promotion of North Mayo and West Sligo as a year-round tourist destination.

It is a treasure of our region.

🥳 🥰 Congratulations for reaching a milestone like 1 million views on Instagram over the last 30 days (and 41.5K likes, comments, and shares)! You have achieved these types of figures before we know.

Well done to Mairéad, Fiona, Clara and Maryna, the amazing Mayo North Tourism, Ireland team.

It's something to be both hugely proud about and to recognise its value because Mayo North Tourism, Ireland is an independent, not-for-profit, community-led organisation.

In fact, they are well placed to tell the stories of North Mayo and West Sligo as they come from the grassroots, are based in the community and are close to the tourist providers and local people who give this region its flavour and its welcome.

Thank you to Mairéad and team, to the Members of Mayo North Tourism, Ireland, to the local people, to those who read their posts on social media and to those who are excited to come to our region.

Moy Valley Resources IRD is proud to support Mayo North Tourism, Ireland from its beginnings 13 years ago. Continued success and thank you!

🌿 🌿 Did you know that today, 12th May, is the International Day of Plant Health?

🌎 Our friends at The Mary Robinson Centre remind us that plants provide 98% of the oxygen we breathe and 80% of the food we eat.

We are totally dependent on vegetation for our survival and wellbeing. We interact in profound interconnection with plants - our systems and bodies recognise this. (But do our minds realise this in our world governed by so many preoccupations?)

📆 The Mary Robinson Climate and Nature Conference 2026 takes place on 9–10 July in Ballina, Co. Mayo.

Its theme is "Food and Care: A Meitheal for Our Time".

🌿 The Mary Robinson Centre invites you to check out its website page for the conference. You will find details on ticket information, accessibility, and how to apply for a stall at the farmers' market.

🌱 May 12 is the International Day of Plant Health. The Mary Robinson Centre marks this day with a simple truth. Ninety eight percent of the oxygen we breathe comes from plants. Eighty percent of the food we eat is provided by plants. Yet we lose up to 40 percent of global crops to pests and diseases every year. That loss affects farmers, families, and futures.

🛡️ Plant biosecurity is not a distant concept. It is how we protect our fields, our food, and our shared home. Healthy plants mean healthy people, thriving biodiversity, and stronger communities.

🌾 This work is at the very heart of our upcoming Mary Robinson Climate and Nature Conference 2026, taking place on 9–10 July in Ballina, Co. Mayo. Under the theme Food and Care: A Meitheal for Our Time, we will gather farmers, scientists, activists, artists, and community workers as equals. Together we will ask what becomes possible when we listen to one another, especially those who tend the soil.

🌿 We invite you to check out our website page for the conference. You will find details on ticket information, accessibility, and how to apply for a stall at the farmers' market.

💚 On this International Day of Plant Health, let us remember that caring for plants is caring for each other. Protect the roots. Protect the future.
