YoungBallymun

YoungBallymun Youngballymun also works with wider partners at national level and in other communities to disseminate and share the learning from our work.

Youngballymun commenced in 2007 and is part of the national Area-Based Childhood (ABC) programme focused on improving wellbeing and learning outcomes for children. Our services develop capacity of parents and practitioners across children’s, family and community environments and the relevant children’s services in the health, early years, primary education, community and other sectors. Youngballym

un strives to ensure change at all levels for children, to ensure the best possible outcomes. The Youngballymun plan is structured around four strands, three practice and one strategic. Across the practice strands – Infant Mental Health; Parenting for Social and Emotional Wellbeing; and Family and Community Language and Literacy – the focus is on working with parents to maximise their capacity to improve children’s outcomes through evidence-based ways of working. Through all of this work, there is a renewed emphasis on mainstreaming and developing service capacity, working in partnership with other organisations in the community to integrate new ways of working and drive quality practice. The Prevention and Early Intervention Partnership and Policy strand supports the other strands by facilitating collaboration at local level and by communicating about this work to wider audiences.

🌟We had such a fabulous morning at our first ever Baby Buddies literacy workshop. 👶🏻📚

We read together, sang together & spoke about the lovely ways we interact with our babies, ways to build on our children's language development & how books, songs, and play support emotional attachment.

Thank you to the parents & babies who came along, you made it so much fun. 🌟

🌟📚 Baby Communication Week 2026

Sharing books with your baby is a wonderful way to bond, connect, & build the foundation for strong communication skills.

Reading together
🌟 Encourages interaction & conversation
🌟 Wires baby's brain for speech
🌟Strengthens attachment & the emotional bond
🌟Supports emotional development
🌟Boosts vocabulary

Some tips for sharing books together:
📖Start early, even though they dont understand the words, your baby loves the sound of your voice
📖Follow your baby's lead,if they want to stop at a certain page, if they like the same page over again, that's OK.
📖Watch as baby points, puts the book in their mouth, or throws the book. Exploring books is fun.
📖Talk in your first language. Even if you make up your own words & and story, talk about the pictures together.
📖 ENJOY the fun. Reading is fun & always better together.
