We often see this when dealing with road based incidents, this puts unnecessary risk to all crews that are working at these incidents, so please keep your phone away and keep your concentration on the road.

It's natural to want to see what's going on in an emergency situation, but please put the camera away 📵

If you witness a medical emergency or accident, respect the privacy of both patients and staff and don't take any photos or recordings.

Wishing everyone a safe and peaceful 2026. With our first turnout of the year attended this morning we would like to remind everyone to have their chimneys cleaned regularly and to check both your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms weekly as this action can give you an early warning of the presence of smoke or CO in your house so that early action can be taken. Never delay calling the fire service. We are also engaged in a community fire safety program so if you know of anyone, maybe elderly or living alone, who you think would benefit from a fire safety visit from ourselves you can make contact with any of the crew and we would be happy to assist.
Again wishing everyone health and happiness for the coming year.

Well August has been a busy month with events happening in our locality. We were delighted to receive invitations to attend an open/family day in Finner Camp, the Ballyshannon Agricultural Show and most recently the Farmers Market in Rossnowlagh. These events offer us an opportunity to meet the public, show them our equipment, offer advice on fire safety in the home and answer any questions regarding the fire service that they may have. We would like to thank everyone who engaged with us at each of these events and I would advise everyone to keep an eye on social media as there may be open days or events happening at your local Fire Station so be sure to go along and see what the Fire Service is all about. Here are a few photos from our recent outings.

Celebrating International Firefighters Day Today.

Today we celebrate International Firefighters’ Day and St. Florian’s Day — a time to honor the bravery, dedication, and selfless service of firefighters everywhere. Inspired by St. Florian, the patron saint of firefighters, we pay tribute to those who risk their lives daily to keep our communities safe. Your courage does not go unnoticed — thank you for all that you do.

Donegal County Council advises householders who may be experiencing loss of heat / power due to the affects of Storm Eowyn to take the following safety measures when considering alternative arrangements for the provision of heat / light ;

Where generators are used, ensure they are in well ventilated spaces outside away from any door, window or vent openings into buildings.

Where using stoves / fireplaces which haven’t been in use for a period of time ensure chimneys have been checked and cleared of any blockages prior to use.

Do not obstruct ventilation openings into rooms.

Where gas hobs are in use for cooking, leave windows slightly ajar.

Do not use portable gas heating appliances indoors.

Ensure you have carbon monoxide detectors on each level in your home and in rooms where appliances are located. In the event of a carbon monoxide alarm activation, evacuate the building immediately leaving doors open and call the emergency services.

Remember carbon monoxide is a colourless, odourless gas and is a silent killer. Take the necessary precautions and stay safe.

🚨 This is NOT acceptable! 🚨

The suggestion of closing any fire station is a direct threat to the safety and well-being of our communities they serve.

Fire stations are a critical part of our emergency response system, saving lives and protecting the vulnerable people of our communities. How can anyone in a position of authority justify such a reckless move?

We need answers. We need accountability. And most importantly, we need to stand together to protect these vital services especially in the Rural settings of Donegal.

Let’s make our voices heard! Share this post, speak out, and demand that decision-makers explain this agenda and what are the basis for this to be brought up again when it has already been decided upon by elected representatives many years ago.!!!

The safety of our communities should never be up for debate.!!!!
