Ballyshannon Marlins Swim Club Marlins SC provides coached swim sessions to help children reach the best of their abiltiy. The club Marlin’s SC is a swimming club based in Ballyshannon, Co.

Donegal, affiliated to Swim Ireland and Swim Ulster. We offer the opportunity for swimmers to train within a club setting to improve their swim ability on a competitive level. Marlins SC Coaches are level 1 & 2 qualified and coach within the club on a volunteer basis.

This Saturday the “13th of September we will be running trials for NEW member.

During trials your child will be asked to

Swim 25m Frontcrawl
Swim 25m Backstroke
Swim 25m Breaststroke
Swim 25m with a kickboard
Attempt a dive
Kick of the wall in streamline position and glide underwater
Show an overall confidence in the water for

We only have a small number of places available in the club, so a waiting list will be drawn up.

Best of luck to Aengus and Nessa who will be competing at the Irish National Senior and Youth Age-group Championships in Dublin over the next four days. Both will be "fly"ing up the pool as Aengus swims in the 50m &100m Fly and Nessa will swim in the 100m Fly. Good luck and enjoy.

Mona McSharry will also be competing next week at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. Mona swim in the 50m, 100m & 200m breaststroke, commencing with the 100m breast on Monday July 28th. # #

It was a busy weekend of swimming for some Marlins swimmers.
Aengus Flangan headed over to Swansea with the Irish University swim team where he claimed Gold in both the 100m and 200m butterfly.
Nessa Warren, Erin coyle and Eunan Colgan were all in Bangor competing at the Ulster LC championships, All put in very good swims with Nessa bagging herself a Consideration Time in the 100fly for the Irish Open championships in July.
Congrats to you All. We are very proud of you all for representing our wee club at such a high level.

Congrats to Aengus on being selected onto the Irish Intervarsity Team having put in great swims over the past weekend at the Intervarsity competition in Belfast. Aengus took 2nd place in the 100fly and 3rd in the 50fly.
Well done Aengus and enjoy the upcoming trip with the Irish Team.

It's a busy few weeks for Marlins swimmers. Last weekend we had 12 swimmers 🏊‍♂️ (Alanna Cambell, Henry Carr, Bernard Doherty, Caoimhe Loughlin, Emilee & Shay McNulty, Kaitlinn O Brien, Finola Sheridan, Emily Rose Summerville, Abbie Tracey, Elizabeth Tsvikovych and Sebastian Vais) compete in Lisburn at the Swim Belfast competition. Many at there first competition and putting in some fab performances-a great day of learning for all involved. Also last weekend, In Limerick we had Nessa Warren, Erin Coyle, Annie O Doherty, Alan & Darragh Vaughan, Freya & Harry Reeves and Maebh Gilligan compete at the Surf Lifesaving Champ in UL.
Well to All the above Marlins swimmers who did our Club and themselves proud in the various competitions.

This weekend Mona McSharry and Aengus Flanagan take to the pool in opposite sides of the Atlantic.
Mona will compete for Tennessee at the SEC Championships in Auburn, Alabama while Aengus competes for the first time at the McCullagh International meet in Bangor. It's sure to be a wonderful experience for Aengus as he will have many international Olympians lining up next to him. Wishing both these great ambassadors for our Club the very best of luck.

Fantastic preformances by both Aengus and Alan at the Ulster Championships in Lisburn over the weekend.
Aengus Qualified for the A Final in All 4 of his events taking Silver in the 50m and 100m fly, 4th in the 200m fly and 6th in the 200fc.
Alan made the A final in the 50bc and took home the Silver medal and he also made the B final of the 50fc touching the wall in 2nd place giving him a 10th place overall.
Congrats to both these young men, fantastic achievement to medal at the Ulster Championships. Very proud of your preformances.

Marlins SC wish to express our deepest sympathies to the family of Frank Summerville who passed away this weekend, especially his son Kieran, daughter in law Karen, grandchildren Eoin, Darragh and Emily Rose, who all play a huge role in our club.

The death has occurred of Francis (Frank) Summerville, Coolcholly, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal and formerly of Ferry Bridge, Kilbride, Clonbur, Co. Mayo.

On Saturday 26th October 2024, Francis (Frank), retired An Garda Síochána, passed away peacefully at his home. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Nora, his brother Paul and son-in-law Seamus (Moran). Beloved husband of Maura and dear father of Anne, Noreen (Moran), Mary (Costello), Kieran and Karen (Mc Neela). He will be forever missed by his loving wife and children, sister Anne, brother Eddie, cherished grandchildren; Eoin, Darragh, Ella, Isaac, Emily and Cillian, daughter-in-law Karen (Whyte), sons-in-law Terry (Costello) and Kevin (Mc Nella), nephews and nieces, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, his extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at John Mc Gee & Sons Funeral Home, Belleek Rd, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal, F94 ED21 on Monday 28th October from 3pm to 6pm.
Removal from his family home on Tuesday morning 29th of October for Requiem Mass at 11a.m at St. Patrick’s Church, Ballyshannon. Followed by burial afterward in The Abbey Assaroe Cemetery.

House private at all time please.

This Wednesday evening, Ballyshannon Marlins Swimming Club invite everybody to our Homecoming Celebration for our Club Member and now Olympic Bronze Medallist - Mona McSharry. This very Special Celebration takes place on Wednesday 28th August 2024 from 6pm to 9pm with the victory Parade from 6.45pm along Bundoran Road through Town Centre via Gables and then to Market Yard for Homecoming with Special Guests at the Big Stage. MC on the evening will be Marty Morrissey (RTE Sport). We are asking everybody to be present on this Wednesday evening for what will be a memorable occasion for Marlins Swimming Club, Ballyshannon and the wider locality. Bring your flags and let's pack the town centre for Mona McSharry Homecoming with Coach Grace Meade. Please share with family and friends 🇮🇪
