Eire Laidir is growing, and it's encouraging to see more people taking an interest in what we are trying to build.

For too long, people across Ireland have felt that their concerns aren't being heard and that the same political approaches keep producing the same problems. We believe the people of Ireland deserve another option, a fresh approach and a movement willing to look at things differently.

That's what we want Éire Láidir to stand for. An alternative that puts Ireland and its people first, looks for practical solutions and is prepared to challenge the way things have always been done.

We know we have a long road ahead, but every person who takes an interest, follows our page, shares our message or decides to get involved helps us move forward. We want to keep building that support and give people a genuine choice for the future.

Our website will be launching in the coming days, and once it is live, we will be opening membership to those who want to become part of the movement. We want people with ideas, people who care about the future of Ireland and people who are willing to work together to make a difference.

Of course, building a political movement takes more than ideas and good intentions. There are significant costs involved in getting established, from registration and administration to printing flyers and posters and getting our message out to communities across Ireland.

That is why we are also looking for sponsorship and financial support from individuals and businesses who believe in giving a new political movement a chance to grow.

We are not asking people to follow blindly. We want people to ask questions, look at our ideas and decide for themselves. We believe our future should be shaped by people who are prepared to think for themselves and demand better from those who represent them.

This morning will start wet and breezy with widespread rain and drizzle along with moderate to fresh and gusty south to southeast winds, stronger in western and southern coastal counties 🌧️

The rain will clear for a time from Munster, Leinster and east Ulster this afternoon, but another spell of rain will move in from the west and southwest during the late afternoon and evening, becoming widespread by early night. Localised flooding is possible, particularly in the west and southwest.

Dog Safety Advice this Halloween

Halloween can be a scary time of year for our four-legged friends who may find unexpected knocks at the door and people dressed in costumes unsettling.

🐕 Adapt your routine in order to miss the costumes and fireworks - it's a good idea to head out before any festivities may begin and take extra tasty treats with you. If you spot any trick or treaters whilst you’re out, head away from them and reward your dog with a treat whilst you turn around to avoid any ghoulish encounters that might scare your dog.

🍭 Keep human treats and sweets safely out of your dog's reach - many human treats, especially chocolate, are toxic to dogs. It’s safest to keep these treats well out of your dog's reach, and in case they accidently sneak a human treat, you can teach your dog to leave it before the trick or treaters start knocking.

🚪 Be careful when opening doors so your dog doesn't accidentally escape - before Halloween arrives, think about your dog’s access to the door. Popping your dog on a lead before you open the door or ensuring they don’t have access to the door when trick or treaters pop by will help to keep them safe.

🦴 Feed your dog their main meals before the trick or treating begins so they can eat at a relaxed time - you could save a small portion of their food to prepare some food-based enrichment activities for later in the evening, to help keep them calm and relaxed.

🐶 Think twice about taking your dog out trick or treating - even dogs who aren’t fazed by people dressed up and all the excitement involved with Halloween may not enjoy it for as long as you do. They might prefer to be at home in their safe and comfy space with their favourite enrichment activity and toys.

How much is your family paying for prescription drugs and medicines?

If you're paying more than €80 a month, you should apply for the Drugs Payment Scheme.

Under the scheme, you and your family will not pay more than €80 a month for approved drugs and medicines.

You and each of your family members will get a card, which you can show when you pick up medication from the pharmacy.

You can store a digital version of the card on your HSE health app.
