We were delighted to visit St Luke’s Charity and Home last week to present a cheque from the collection at our Christmas Show. We were made feel so welcome, and our pupils enjoyed meeting residents, and being shown the beautiful facilities.

BIG Thanks to the students of St Michael's Church of Ireland National School for raising a wonderful €285 at their Christmas Nativity Play for St Luke’s Charity & Home

Happy 3rd Birthday to our wonderful school support dog Biscuit!! Thank you to everyone who has filled in sponsorship cards for her birthday walk. Sadly we had to postpone the walk until Thursday because of the rain! Despite this, Biscuit had a wonderful day being spoiled by her friends at St Michael’s, and she even got a card and a pupcake from her brother Forest! We hope the sponsored walk on Thursday will be a big success as all the funds raised will go to Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland. We hope we can help other schools benefit as much as we have benefitted from having Biscuit at our school.

It’s starting to look a bit like Christmas… thank you to Niall and Stuart who have put up our Christmas lights for the past 5 years, helping to build our festive atmosphere every year, like real Christmas elves! As their daughters are both in 6th class this year this is the last year they will be parents of current pupils.. Today is the last time they will put up our lights, marking the end of a lovely tradition. Thank you to you both for being so cheerful and helpful when organising this every year.

This morning St Michael’s went to Charlie’s Circle K to cheer on ex Rugby League player and England Coach Kevin Sinfield. Kevin was running an ultra marathon around the streets of Cork city as part of his 7 in 7 Together Challenge for MND charities, including the Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association. Kevin is running 7 ultra marathons in 7 days, which is an incredible achievement. He is running in a different city each day, and Cork is the only city in Ireland that he is running in for this challenge. The link for his fundraiser is below! Well done to Kevin and all his team. Well done also to Donncha O Callaghan who joined today’s run.
