Needed Bus Route from Swords to Blanchardstown:
As many of you will know, for a number of years I have been asking the NTA and numerous Minister's for Transport to sanction a direct bus route between Swords and Blanchardstown. There is a large portion of people living in Swords who would direclty benefit from such a route for work purposes but also for easier access to Blanchardstown shopping centre. Below is the latest from the NTA on my ask for this route.
"There are no current plans for a direct bus service between Blanchardstown and Swords however, the continuing rollout of the BusConnects Network Redesign programme will transform connectivity across Fingal helping to better link key urban areas. Interchange between services will be a key feature in achieving this outcome.
For example, on the completion of phase 9 (A-Spine) it will be possible to take new route A4 from Swords Main Street to Dublin Airport and change to route N8 for Blanchardstown. Interchange between services is free when customers avail of the TFI-90 Minute Fare. The introduction date for new services, including routes N8 and A4 depends on operational readiness, and the outcome of discussions on funding with the Department of Transport."
While these plans would be workable for many people, we know in Fingal that BusConnects has faced constant delays, and is not a solution that works for people when they need it, which is now. With the Dáil soon to return, this will be one of a number of issues I will again be raising with the Minister.
