Sometimes I get people asking questions around how Politics works in Ireland and what different people do, who to contact and how decisions are made.

To be SO fair, it's not the easiest to wrap your head around either, so I've decided to pop together a little infographic series called The Lowdown.

Just some bite-sized explainers on how things work, who does what, how to have your voice heard and how to cut through the noise.

Whenever I've a spare bit of time I'll pop one of these up and hopefully folks will find these useful, and if there's something not covered please feel free to let me know.

Anyway, here is
(let's try this again...)

Tomorrow over 300,000 public sector workers take industrial action against unfair pay conditions.

When even one of our worker’s rights are eroded we all lose. I will not be crossing the picket line tomorrow.

Solidarity to every nurse, teacher, driver, public sector employee, midwife and everyone in between.

Always so lovely to pop into Soul Fuel Corduff (Instagram) for a wee coffee and a sweet treat ♥️ People don’t want to be going to pubs to meet their friends always and this is such a spectacular spot 👏🏼 (A Third Place)

We are absolutely blessed to have a little local coffee shop so close and local. Give it a try and give your business locally, the girls are working hard to make it a success ✨

Also the matcha is 💯/ 💯 👑
(Also who is gonna say no to needing some more girlie pop vibes 💅🏼)

Had such a lovely day with the amazing Cllr Mary McCamley yesterday at the Volunteer Fingal EXPO at Blanchardstown Library.

Great to bump into so many pals also including Shyami Gomu Sathiaseelan 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Wonderful to see Volunteer Fingal, The Parkruns, The Ladybirds, SVP, BCIL, Home Start & Children 4 World Children at this showcasing how much you can get involved locally ❤️

It was great to be able to join Cllr John Walsh on Thursday night to listen to the concerns of so many residents on the Dunsink plan. John spoke fantastically on the problems with the plan, and really demonstrated how pro-resident, pro-heritage & pro- good planning

I think one of the most egregious parts of the plan is the threat to the observatory’s ECO UNESCO status despite constant promises of minding them.

The observatory could serve as a source of wonder for local residents ad their kids through a visitor centre etc. We’re so lucky to have it and it should be opened to the public.

Also, co-living apartments are not the way, they increase rent, lead to lack of privacy and ultimately treat humans as living sardines in a can. Housing is vital, but so is good infrastructure.

Huge congratulations to the organisers on the turnout and event. 👏🏼

Wondering what was in it for you this budget? Spoiler alert, not a lot

Here’s the major breakdowns from the key issues. A Budget that was supposed to be for people who got up early and worked hard, this budget will leave people getting up early to worry hard.

Wow. Just, wow. This is why we need to fight to protect the arts. 🎭 Thank you Cllr John Walsh for the invite!

The BIGGEST congratulations to Emer McGowan and her entire team on what can only be described as a massive Win with a capital W. Draiocht Blanchardstown

Must also mention that it was great to see Uachtarán Catherine Connolly enjoying the show!

Without Distinction of S*x was a really grounding moment of theatre and art and how feminism is so intersectional and intertwined in every aspect of the fight for equality. It’s a touching, raw and provocative piece and a direct challenge to politicians to finally abolish article 41 in the pursuit of equality.

A hearty congratulations on a successful night Veronica Coburn, Sinéad Diskin, Deirdre Dwyer, Mark Galione, Michael Dunne, Emer McGowan, Maura O’Keeffe, Sibéal Davitt, Caoimhe Coburn Gray, the inspirational 41 amazing women on the choir & the team at Draíocht again.
