Killian was honoured to have a storm named after him, “I'm known as the “Bearman of Buncrana”, so if Storm Killian comes this way it'll probably roar in like a bear. My family would expect it to be unpredictable and unexpected!”

The list of 21 names has been announced by the Met Office, Met Éireann and the Dutch weather service and comes into effect on 1 September.

An Update from the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group. Sadly a second whale also stranded. The whales have been confirmed as Cuvier’s beaked whale, a deep water species.

A sad update on the whale Killian found in the lough Swilly. It’s incredibly rare for a deep water species to be found in the shallow waters of Lough Swilly. Killian knew straight away something was amiss.
