The Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI), a research programme based at The Royal Irish Academy (RIA), will launch its Community Archive Scheme for 2027 at an online coffee morning on Wednesday, 26 August 2026 at 11.00 a.m.

The scheme is designed to support community groups and voluntary organisations that hold collections of local, social or cultural significance and would like to preserve and make these materials available digitally. It gives successful groups access to DRI membership and support for the period needed to add their collection to the Repository, drawing on DRI’s expertise in digital preservation and archiving.
The coffee morning will include contributions from previous Community Archive Scheme participants, practical information on the 2027 application process and a Q&A for groups considering applying. Participation is free but booking is essential: https://dri.ie/events/dri-coffee-morning-august-2026/

Brilliant ending to Heritage Week 2026 in County Carlow. The Ardattin Community Group displayed aspects of the conservation plan prepared for them with The Heritage Council Community Heritage Grant Funds they secured. Lovely vision for the former church. Fantastic community BBQ. Congrats to the men's tug-of-war team on reclaiming their title from the under 9's🤣. Great turn out, sunshine, lovely gathering and community and committee protecting their heritage from risk. Thanks to all who came with us on our Surprise Heritage and Wellbeing Coach Tour in Heritage Week. Massive thank you to Tom Doran, farmer in Kilcruit for allowing us visit, discuss and learn from him about the archaeological monuments on his land. Lovely lunch in Tinryland Community Hub, set us up for a visit to the very special Biodiversity Garden Hacketstown, where Jackie Stafford told us about the biodiversity garden and the outreach they (magnificent duo of Jackie and Noel Coogan) do. Many people got on the coach with a lovely apple in hand. Jim from Glynn's of Carlow got us out, around and back safely. We look forward to sharing the results of the research with all before the end of the year.
