A local student, Lacey Waters from Presentation Primary School, has been named the winner of our competition to name the town’s newest compact street sweeper — now proudly called “Lightning McClean” ⚡🧹
The competition saw fantastic participation from local schools, crèches and playschools, with prizes awarded to the top entries and special recognition for creative colouring submissions.
Cathaoirleach Cllr David Dunne officially unveiled the new sweeper at a special school event today, praising the children for their enthusiasm and commitment to keeping their town clean. 🌍
This initiative highlights the important role young people play in promoting environmental awareness and looking after their community.

Due to extreme road temperatures the tar has melted on an 8 to 9 km stretch of road from Coolbawn Cross towards Drangan via Lismoynan causing poor driving conditions.
