Today I joined Ministers Peter Burke and Niamh Smyth TD at Government buildings to launch the Cost of Business Advisory Forum’s final report, setting out 63 practical recommendations on energy, insurance, banking, planning and regulatory costs.

The focus now is on delivery - cutting unnecessary red tape, backing businesses, supporting growth and protecting jobs. 🇮🇪

Good news - a new Special Education Tuition (SET) room will now proceed to construction at Scoil Íosa Carracastle Central National School.

Plans for the school have been approved by the Department of Education under the Additional School Accommodation Scheme.

This new SET room will ensure that children who need additional support can access it in a modern, purpose‑built environment.

I want to acknowledge the tremendous work of Principal Bracken and the Board in bringing this project to this stage. I wish them every success as they move into the construction phase.

Most of us have been there - a phone screen cracks, a tablet stops charging, the washing machine or dishwasher gives up.

This morning I spoke to Newstalk about the new EU Right to Repair rules, which make it easier to repair everyday products rather than replace them.

This means stronger consumer rights, better access to spare parts and repairs at a reasonable price, less waste and more opportunities for local repair businesses. RepairMyStuff.ie is also being redeveloped to help people find repair services close to home.

I’m also working to deliver a National Repair Voucher Scheme, with the pilot on track for 2027, to help reduce repair costs further.

Next time something breaks, check if it can be fixed before replacing it.

Important news for suckler farmers across Mayo, with up to €75 per eligible calf available for meal feeding, vaccination and testing - up to €3,375 for 45 calves.

📅 Apply by 5pm, 23 September 2026 via MyAgFood.ie.

Late applications will not be accepted, so don’t leave it until the last minute. This is a practical support for the costs of feeding, animal health and welfare on suckler farms across Mayo.

The new catering trolley pilot on the Galway–Dublin train begins today. It is certainly welcome news for passengers. But it also highlights the gap facing people travelling on the Westport–Dublin line.

Mayo passengers can spend 3½ hours on an Intercity train for work, college or other commitments and still cannot buy so much as a cup of tea or a bottle of water.

If catering is being piloted on the Galway route, the Westport route must be next in line.

Mayo passengers deserve the same standard of service as passengers on other Intercity routes. I’ll continue working to ensure that this happens.

Great to be in Ballyhaunis GAA & LGFA Club for the opening of the club’s new stand.

Huge credit to Chairperson William Nestor, the executive, volunteers and sponsors who made it happen. It’s a fantastic addition that will benefit the club and wider community for years to come.

Very fitting to see lifelong clubman Paddy Waldron cut the ribbon on such a proud day. 👏🏻
