It is FREE to walk the beautifully restored 18th century parklands and the parklands are open daily. If using Dublin Bus: C4 from Dublin City Centre to Main Street Celbridge. Please note the house is approximately a 10minute walk from Main Street through the parklands. Castletown House is one of the finest 18th century Palladian style mansions in Ireland and in recent years it has undergone major restoration work. The Castletown Estate is now open to the public under the care of The Office Of Public Works and is open for you to come enjoy and explore one of the most interesting periods in Irish history. The beautiful 18th century parklands, the magnificent collections and history of the house, alongside the delicious menu of the restaurant ensure that Castletown can be enjoyed by young and old alike. We hope to continue welcoming new visitors to Castletown, not only so as people can learn about a fascinating time in Irish history but we hope Castletown will become a venue for people to come and meet with friends for a walk of the parklands. Our next Concert Here at Castletown is on Friday, June 26 • 8 PM - 9:30 PM, by

Elsafty, Armstrong & Browne, featuring Róisín Elsafty (Song). Siobhán Armstrong(Early Irish Harp). Ronan Browne(Union Pipes, Flute & Whist)

This trio presents the scintillating voice of one of Ireland’s finest Conamara singers, Róisín Elsafty, together with the very rare and meltingly beautiful sound of the medieval Irish harp, played by Ireland’s foremost historical harpist, Siobhán Armstrong, woven with the diverse colours of Ronan Browne’s flutes, whistles and 175-year-old pipes.

We are very much looking for to this concert here at Castletown House. It will be a wonderful evening of Music.

A wasted journey? Alongside the more familiar image of James Joyce, we see Joyce as a young man in 1904. In late 1903 Joyce walked from Dublin to Castletown House & Parklands . He hoped to convince American business man Thomas Kelly to invest in a newspaper. Unfortunately, Kelly was away and Joyce had to make the long walk back to Dublin empty handed.
