The team were at TechFest today with the Cork business community and ecosystem stakeholders and one message stood out: AI is accelerating business change faster than most organisations are ready for and trust is now the central issue.

A standout speaker was James Bartlett, who brought a brilliant mix of humour and insight. His comparison of WWE to politics had the room captivated, while also grounding a serious point about how narratives are shaped in the age of large language models and digital content. He shared the line “Everything is fake and no one cares,” specifically in the context of how visual misinformation can influence decision-making, even when we know content is not real, highlighting the psychological impact of AI-enabled manipulation.

Alongside the humour, the underlying message was clear: AI-driven manipulation, misinformation, and content generation are becoming real operational risks in the wrong hands.

At the same time, there was strong optimism around practical business impact:

* faster decision-making and client preparation
* AI-driven retail and operational efficiency PepsiCo gave great insights on “crisp” decisions made using AI (inside joke)
* better communication of complex ideas in simple terms

Great insights across the day from so many quality speakers to give you a few; James Bartlett, Robert McArdle, Dr. Deirdre Leahy (Munster Technological University), James Baldwin (PepsiCo), Larry O’Donoghue (AxisBIC) and Adrian O’Flaherty.
