A huge well done to all of our volunteers from the Cork Unit who provided first aid cover at this year’s Cork City Marathon.

It was a fantastic day of teamwork and community spirit as we worked alongside our colleagues from the Carrigaline Unit, the Irish Red Cross, St John Ambulance, and Civil Defence to help ensure the safety and wellbeing of the thousands of participants and spectators throughout the event.

From the early morning start right through to the finish line, our volunteers were on hand to provide medical support, assistance, and reassurance whenever needed. Events of this scale are only possible thanks to the dedication and professionalism of all the emergency and voluntary services involved.

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the marathon, and thank you to all the volunteers who gave their time and expertise to make the day a success.

β€οΈπŸš‘ OMAC Cork Unit – Celebrating National Volunteer Week πŸš‘β€οΈ

This National Volunteer Week, OMAC Cork Unit takes a moment to recognise and thank all of our volunteers whose time, energy, and commitment make our work possible.

Across our unit, volunteers give their skills, patience, and enthusiasm to support young people, strengthen our community, and keep our programmes running to a high standard. Much of what happens behind the scenes often goes unseen, but it is always deeply felt in the experiences of those we serve.

We also want to acknowledge that volunteering is never β€œjust extra help” β€” it is the backbone of what we do. Every meeting prepared, every event supported, every hour given up quietly contributes to something bigger than any one of us.

From all of us in OMAC Cork Unit, thank you to every volunteer β€” past and present β€” for your continued commitment and support. Your contribution truly matters, this week and every week.

Unit Coverage: DMAX 7.7 – In Memory of Darragh McCarthy

Today as well as our Annual Flag Day, Our unit will be covering the DMAX 7.7 special event, a meaningful occasion being held in honour and remembrance of Darragh McCarthy of Midleton, who sadly passed away in 2025.

DMAX 7.7 is more than an eventβ€”it is a tribute to Darragh’s life, his impact, and the legacy he leaves within the community. It will bring people together to remember him, while also supporting those taking part in the activities on the day.

Visitors are still very welcome to call in throughout the event to show their support, spend time in the atmosphere, and stand alongside those involved.

Our unit is proud to be present and covering the event, and we encourage anyone in the area to drop in, show support, and be part of this important remembrance.

Today, we celebrate the importance of families and the vital role they play in our lives, our communities, and our organisation.

Families come in many forms, but they all provide love, support, strength, and compassion through both the good times and the challenges we face.

Within the Order of Malta Ireland Cork Unit, we are proud of the strong sense of family that exists among our members, volunteers, cadets, supporters, and the wider community we serve. The friendships, care, and teamwork built through volunteering continue to strengthen our unit year after year.

On this International Day of Families, we encourage everyone to take a moment to appreciate the people who support, encourage, and stand beside us every day ❀️

πŸ’™πŸŒ International Nurses Day πŸŒπŸ’™

Today, the Order of Malta Ambulance Corps Cork Unit proudly celebrates and thanks all nurses β€” both within our organisation and across healthcare services everywhere.

Nurses play an essential role in caring for people at some of the most difficult and vulnerable moments in their lives. Their compassion, professionalism, dedication, and strength make an incredible difference every single day.

We are especially proud to recognise the nurses within our own unit who continue to give their time, skills, and care both in their professional careers and through voluntary service in our communities.

To every nurse, everywhere β€” thank you for your unwavering commitment, kindness, and care. Your work never goes unnoticed ❀️

πŸš‘πŸ”₯ A Very Busy Weekend for Cork Unit πŸ”₯πŸš‘

It was another extremely busy weekend for members and cadets of the Order of Malta Ambulance Corps Cork Unit, with teams deployed across multiple events and activities.

Our cadets proudly took part in the Regional Cadet Competitions hosted in Glasheen Girls National School, where they represented the unit with professionalism, teamwork, and great success on the competition circuit.

At the same time, members were on duty providing ambulance and first aid cover during a busy race day in Mallow, while another crew covered the Point-to-Point in Bartlemy.

Weekends like this highlight the incredible commitment of our volunteers, who continue to dedicate their time to supporting communities and ensuring events can run safely and successfully.

A huge well done and thank you to all our members, cadets, officers, and volunteers for their hard work, professionalism, and dedication throughout the weekend πŸ‘
