Race day is very much a city-wide occasion, and supporters play a central role in the atmosphere.

The public is encouraged to line the streets, bring energy and support runners throughout the course.

Recommended viewing points include: The Lough and Washington Street, while the Carrigrohane (Straight) Road and Mardkye Walk are also great vantage points (accessible on foot only due to road closures).

With the new finish line on Grand Parade, the city centre will be a key focal point for spectators, alongside a number of locations across the route where encouragement can make a real difference in the later stages of each race. Spectators are encouraged to share race day moments using the following hashtags:

Those who would like to support the family and friends of Ellen Cassidy, who are running in her memory, are asked to wear yellow or hold a yellow banner.

Temporary road closures, diversions and traffic restrictions will be in place throughout race morning and early afternoon.

People should check information on road closures, diversions and access routes on the official website in advance of race day. Anyone travelling in or through the city is advised to plan ahead.

Organisers acknowledge and appreciate the continued support and patience of residents, businesses and commuters in facilitating an event of this scale.

The marathon starts on Grand Parade at 8.15am. Runners can only enter the Grand Parade via the junction of the South Mall and Parnell Place. This will open at 7.30 am where a bib number check will be in operation.

The 10K starts on South Mall at 8.45am. 10K Runners can assemble from 8am on Parnell Place and will be escorted down South Mall from 8.20am after the Full Marathon has started and through the bib number check.

The Half Marathon starts on Monahan Road. There will be two waves. Runners will assemble in Kennedy Park in their chosen wave., with first wave starting at 10.15am. This will include the 1:30, 1:40, 1:45 and 1:50 pacers. The second wave, led by the 2 hour pacers, will start at 10.30am. Runners should pick the wave appropriate to their predicted finishing time.

However club runners running in the national championship must run in Wave 1 regardless of predicted time as National Championship results are done by Gun Time.

All three races will finish on Grand Parade, bringing runners into the heart of the city for the final stretch. Runners are reminded of the importance of proper race day preparation and having gotten appropriate and adequate training in advance of race day.

A baggage drop facility will be available at Cork City Hall on race day, Sunday, May 31, operating from approximately 7am to 5pm.

A full range of on-course supports will be in place, including 13 water stations across the full marathon route and two along the 10K course, with locations published on the official course map in advance of race day.

Toilet facilities will be available at Cork City Hall, near start areas and at the finish line on Grand Parade, alongside additional portaloos positioned throughout the route. Period products will also be available at designated toilet facilities.

Participants are encouraged to review the official course map in advance to familiarise themselves with facilities and plan accordingly:

Runners may also choose to use personal hydration systems where preferred.

The 2026 Analog Devices Cork City Marathon will honour the memory of Ellen Cassidy, the 24-year-old runner who tragically passed away following last year’s Half Marathon. More than 200 of Ellen’s family and friends will take part across this year’s Half Marathon and 10K events in her honour. 💛

At the start of this year’s Half Marathon on Monahan Road, 24 yellow balloons will be released in Ellen’s memory, symbolising her age and the lasting impact she has had on the running community. 💛

In addition, the male and female winners of the Half Marathon will each be presented with the Ellen Cassidy Perpetual Cup. 🏆

We are also asking runners, volunteers, spectators and the wider public to turn Cork yellow for Ellen - her favourite colour - by wearing yellow, holding yellow banners, and lining the streets in a vibrant show of love, remembrance and solidarity.💛

The medal designs this year will also pay tribute to Ellen. 🏅

Cork City Council has unveiled a pilot scheme to green and declutter St Patrick’s Street, creating a more welcoming and people-friendly city centre. 🏢

Funded by the NTA, the project will focus on improving key areas near Winthrop Street and Dunnes Stores, with new seating, trees and planting, and better flow for pedestrians. 🌳🚶‍♂️

It includes relocating bus stops, removing outdated street furniture, and enhancing public space. 🌳 🚌

The 12–18 month pilot begins in June, with public feedback encouraged as the Council works to deliver a cleaner, greener and more vibrant heart of the city.
