Traditional Fiddle Beginner Lessons (Ages 9–12) 🎻

Give young musicians the perfect start on their traditional music journey! These beginner‑friendly fiddle lessons are designed for children aged 9 to 12.

⏰Starting on March 7 Saturday from 12.00 pm to 1.00 pm in the City Library, Grand Parade, followed by an open trad session for children. Runs every second Saturday until April 11 Saturday.

Come along to the City Library's new Children’s Trad Group- Seoda na Maidine 🎻
We’re excited to launch a brand new traditional music group for young musicians aged 9–15. No booking required but participants must bring their own instrument.

⏰Starting February 21 Saturday. Join us every second Saturday from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm in the Rory Gallagher Music Library, City Library, Grand Parade.

The group will be a fun, friendly space to explore Irish traditional music, learn tunes and enjoy playing together. Facilitated by Julian Halpin, music teacher.

Coming up! The next in the MTU Cork School of Music/ Cork City Libraries Lunch Time Concert Series is on Thursday 15 January at 1.00 pm in the City Library featuring the Loinnir Quartet 🎵✨

The Loinnir Quartet are a newly-formed ensemble, founded in September 2025 under the tutelage of Christopher Marwood. The members of the quartet are Isabelle Kearney (violin), Brefní Burke (violin), Miriam Quin (viola) and Clara Kamlah (cello). They are all BMus students at the MTU Cork School of Music. The name Loinnir comes from the Irish word for radiance or brilliance, often used to describe sunlight glistening on the surface of the ocean.
