📢 UPDATE – Hedge Cutting

Due to a breakdown, the hedge cutting will now not start until after lunch today.

Could all vehicles parked on the ditch side of Croke Terrace please be moved before the work begins.

Hedge and tree cutting will take place tomorrow, Saturday, September 5th, on the hedge/trees opposite Croke Terrace.

The work will take place between 9:00am and 14:00pm. Please ensure the area is kept clear of parked cars for the duration of the hedge cutting.

Ballyclough Village – 1921

A lot has changed in Ballyclough over the years, but one familiar landmark has stood the test of time — Fitzgerald’s Bar still stands strong today.

We would love to collect and preserve more of Ballyclough’s history. If anyone has old photographs connected to Ballyclough, we would be delighted to see them and, most importantly, hear the stories behind them.

Old photographs and memories help us keep the history of our village alive for future generations.

A great weekend at the Dry Stone Wall Construction Workshop, run by the Dry Stone Wall Association of Ireland, with fantastic work completed on Ballyclough’s historic village walls. 🧱

A huge thanks to everyone who travelled from near and far. Belfast, Dubin, Killeagh, Achill, Wexford, Tipperary, Fermoy, Limerick and beyond to take part.

UPDATE – Dry Stone Wall Project

After a great day’s work by the lads from the Dry Stone Wall Association of Ireland, they have decided to continue the project this Saturday and Sunday, repairing a section of the wall up by Marian Terrace.

⚠️ Please proceed with caution in these areas during the weekend, as there will be people working on the walls.

🚗 A small request: If possible, could people please avoid parking near the area where the work will be taking place.

🏰 Ballyclough Castle – Dry Stone Wall Construction Weekend

Ballyclough Castle, with the help of Ballyclough Community Association and Ballyclough Community Centre, are delighted to host an Introduction to Dry Stone Wall Construction Weekend, run by the Dry Stone Wall Association of Ireland.

The course is fully booked and will take place from Friday 28th August to Sunday 30th August, from 9:30am to 4:30pm each day.

As part of the weekend, the group hope to work on sections of the Corke Place and Marian Terrace walls.

⚠️ Please proceed with caution in these areas during the weekend, as there will be people working on the walls and some temporary disruption may occur.

🚗 A small request: If possible, we would ask anyone who has a car parked in front of the walls during these times to please move it, where able, to allow the work to take place.

This is an exciting project for Ballyclough, and we hope it will be the start of something great for the village and its historic walls. 👏

This event is an action of the National Vernacular Strategy, an initiative under the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage, and is supported by funding from The National Built Heritage Service of Ireland.

We are very excited to be hosting an “American Tea Party” on Jan 31st in Ballyclough Community Centre.

We have the fantastic Water the Pony joining us on the night, providing live traditional music so a great evening of craic agus ceol is guaranteed

Bring along your own food and drinks, or feel free to order a takeaway – however you want to do it. There will also be a prize for the best-decorated table, so get creative!
