People Before Profit Cork

People Before Profit Cork Eco-socialism for the 21st Century. Be the change you wish to see in the Rebel County 🚩 We are opposed to racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia. Join us!

People Before Profit is Ireland’s largest and most active all Ireland left-wing party. We're a grassroots movement that opposes neo-liberal polices and sees 'people power' as key to improving our society. As a green socialist party, we have a long record of campaigning on environmental issues, including Shell to Sea in Mayo, against oil rigs in Dublin Bay and to keep public ownership of our forest

s. We were hugely engaged in the marriage equality and Repeal campaigns, and we are actively campaigning for an end to the inhumane Direct Provision system. We fight for workers’ rights and a fair distribution of wealth. We want to tax the corporations and the rich and fight for equality nationally and internationally. What we stand for

•Make the big corporations and the wealthy pay their fair share of tax.
•Make housing a human right.
•End the two-tier health system and establish a national health service, that's free with much improved access and waiting list times.
•Create a living wage and job security.
•Major investment into public transport that's more frequent, cheaper, and cleaner.
•Abolish unjust taxes and end rip off insurance.
•Guarantee 33 hours of free childcare per week.
•Scrap third level fees and insist on smaller classes.
•Take Ireland’s natural resources into public ownership.
•Support strong trade unions that stand up for workers, end outsourcing and exploitation.
•End privatization – keep the banks in public ownership.
•Stop climate change – move away from a profit addicted economy. Major investment in sustainable energy, public transport and public recycling infrastructure.
•Proper funding for local government and genuine public participation, transparency and accountability in planning and development issues.
•Oppose war. Defend Irish neutrality. US troops out of Shannon.

Data Centres:
"We were out last Friday gathering signatures for our "Price Controls, Not Data Centres" petition, demanding that the city and county councils implement an immediate moratorium on the building of Data Centres in Cork.
Just last year JCD Developments got extended planning permission to expand the Data Centre site in Little Island. This comes at a time of record high electricity bills, which are now some of the highest in Europe. As well as this, as of 2025, 22% of the Irish Electrical grids output goes straight to Data Centres. We need to stop prioritising the economic interests of big tech companies over the right of Irish workers to affordable electricity, clean water and a sustainable future for their children.

So join us as we take the fight to the tech oligarchs and put an end to their profiteering in Cork. "

Welcome to the official community page dedicated to challenging the sudden, devastating wind-down and closure of Carlow College, St. Patrick’s.

For generations, Carlow College has been the heart of our community. It has stood as one of the most vital, accessible pathways to inclusive higher education for students, and a proud champion of the humanities and social sciences. The recent announcement of its closure over a two-year "teach-out" phase is not a "student-centred success story". It is a betrayal of staff, students, and our region.

Why we are here:

Behind the political spin are human lives. This includes 87 dedicated staff members who are facing redundancy with no prior union consultation. This page has been set up to cut through the noise and highlight the cost of this decision for the wider community.

Our Mission:

āœļøTo Share Your Stories: We will be featuring firsthand testimonials from the students, alumni, and staff whose lives are being upended by this closure.
šŸ’” To Demand Transparency: We are demanding answers from Minister James Lawless and senior management regarding hidden agreements and why a promised merger with SETU was abandoned.

🤲 To Organise: This is a hub for upcoming events, petitions, and actions.

How you can help right now:

1ļøāƒ£ Like & Share this page to help us build a massive online community that politicians cannot ignore.

2ļøāƒ£ Tell us your story. Are you a current student, an alum, a staff member, or a local resident? How does this closure affect you?

Please send us a DM—your voice is our strongest weapon.

3ļøāƒ£ Use our official hashtags in the comments below to get the conversation moving.

Let’s stand together, support the staff, and protect the future of accessible education in the South East.

The Triple Lock represents a major obstacle to this government. We'll have to demand Fine Gael, Fianna FƔil and their lackeys in the Lowry group stop trying to short-circuit our democratic demand for Neutrality. Neutrality is our best real defence from the gravity of the West's wars.
