It was a pleasure to meet with representatives from Churchtown and St. Mary's Ladies Gaelic Football Club to discuss future development opportunities for the area and the club's ambition to secure a permanent home.
Sports clubs are at the heart of our communities, bringing people together, promoting health and wellbeing, and creating opportunities for young people to thrive. Ensuring clubs have access to quality facilities is essential to supporting participation, inclusion and the continued growth of sport at local level.

The Mayor of the County of Cork recently hosted Kevin O'Donovan and Daniel Lane, representatives of Cork GAA, at Cork County Hall. During this courtesy visit, a range of topics were discussed, including how Cork County Council and Cork GAA can continue to strengthen and build upon their long-standing relationship.

It was a delight to attend Millstreet Library for their monthly Age Friendly gathering.
It was a wonderful morning filled with conversation, laughter, and great company as everyone enjoyed the opportunity to come together and connect.

It was a great honour to represent County Cork at the Chicago Gaelic Park Irish Festival, one of the largest celebrations of Irish culture in the United States. During my visit, I had the opportunity to engage with members of the Irish-American community, celebrate our shared heritage and strengthen the longstanding relationship between County Cork and Cook County, Illinois.

I met with the Board of Directors of Gaelic Park and local business representatives, highlighting the strong cultural, tourism and economic links that continue to connect Cork and Chicago.

The warmth of the welcome we received was a testament to the enduring connection between Cork and its diaspora. I would like to thank everyone involved in the festival for their hospitality and look forward to building on these valuable relationships in the years ahead.

A wonderful honor this week as the Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Bernard Moynihan, attended the official opening of the MV Logos Hope at Kennedy Quay.

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Bernard Moynihan, welcomed Peter Twomey of Glenbrook Farm to County Hall this week to discuss his innovative and sustainable approach to farming.

During the meeting, they discussed Glenbrook Farm’s commitment to sustainable agriculture, its strong links with the local community through its farm shop, and its engagement with local restaurants to supply high-quality local produce.

The Mayor praised Peter’s resilience and forward-thinking approach in responding to the challenges facing the farming sector, noting that his work is an excellent example of how innovation, sustainability and community engagement can help shape a positive future for agriculture in County Cork.

County Cork is set to host a record number of events for National Heritage Week 2026!

From the 15th to the 23rd of August, nearly 200 heritage events and activities will take place across the county, celebrating the people, places and traditions that make Cork unique. This year's theme,"Heritage at Risk", encourages communities to protect, preserve and celebrate our shared heritage for future generations.
