The Irish Cave Rescue Organisation held a fundraising day at Mitchelstown Cave on Saturday 30 August.

The Irish Cave Rescue Organisation is a voluntary organisation made up of active cavers responsible for cave rescues within the island of Ireland.

Irish Cave Rescue Organisation members from all over Ireland were at Mitchelstown Cave to demonstrate cave rescue equipment to the visitors to the cave.

Earthquake off the coast of Spain recorded at Mitchelstown Cave earthquake monitoring station.

On the 14th of July 2025, at 05:13:27 UTC (07:13:27 local time), an earthquake measuring M5.2 occurred in the Mediterranean Sea, approximately 50km SE of Spain, at a depth of 10km (the red circle in the map below shows the epicentre location). Several aftershocks measuring up to M3.4 have also been recorded in the hours following the main shock. The earthquake was felt across southern Spain, most notably in the cities of Almeria and Granada, and some building damage was reported at the airport in Almeria.
