🌿 Thank You 🌿

What an incredible final open day it was. We are so grateful to everyone who came along, whether it was your very first visit, or one last return to a place you’ve loved for years. The support, kind words and memories shared made it a truly special send-off for Iris’s garden. 💖

This space has been her pride and joy for decades, a labour of love that grew from humble beginnings into something that touched so many people. From the earliest days of digging and planting, through the many summers of hard work and bloom, right up to yesterday’s farewell, the garden has always been a reflection of her heart and dedication. 🌸

Here are some memories through the years Iris Checkett in her element among the flowers, old photos of the garden taking shape, and clippings from when her work was celebrated in the news. She is such an inspiration, We hope you enjoy looking back as much as we’ve enjoyed sharing this journey.

Can you believe this is just outside Gorey?
Tomorrow is your last chance to visit this stunning garden as it is closing for good 🥀💔

Anyone who lives around here will know Glenavon Japanese Garden. After many long years of care, dedication, and hard work, Iris will be closing her gates for the very last time tomorrow (Sunday 31st August). A well overdue break in fairness.

The garden will be open from 2-5pm, with entry at €6 per person🌸

We wish her all the best in her well deserved retirement ❤️

🌸 End of an Era 🌸

This Sunday marks the very last open day of Glenavon Japanese Garden before Iris Checkett closes the gates for good and enjoys a well-earned retirement. For so many summers she has poured her heart and soul into creating a space that has brought joy, peace and inspiration to countless visitors.🌻

If you’ve ever thought of coming to see it, this weekend is your final chance to wander through her flowers, sit in the sunshine, and soak up all the love and care she has put into every corner. 🌿💖

Please do call in on Sunday 31st August to help us give her garden the farewell it deserves. Let’s make the last day as special as all the memories it’s given us. 🌼✨

As always we are open 2pm to 5pm and entry is 6 euro per person 😊
