Did you know that Dalkey Island and Killiney Beach were scientific experiment sites?

Robert Mallet was an Irish geophysicist, civil engineer, and inventor often called the father of seismology for his pioneering research on earthquakes. A Trinity College Dublin graduate, he coined terms like “seismology” and “epicentre,” built early seismographs and conducted seismic wave experiments on these sites in 1849 & 1850 by detonating buried kegs of gun powder.

Dalkey makes Dermot O'Leary's bucket list!

Our coastal location, alongside the stunning houses and proximity to Dublin city centre, with its Georgian architecture, were Dermot's reasons, when he gave his interview to London Evening Standard, as part of discussions of his new "Taste of Ireland" series.

We all do like to be beside the seaside!
