In the wider community, he was the driving force behind the development of the Mallow Auto-grass world-class racing circuit in the Ballyhoura area of North Cork.

Finian is very involved in fundraising for Marymount Hospital and he has organised a number of rallycross events at the Cork City Council Amenity park developed at the old land-field site near the Airport Roundabout.

Edward has worked as a pharmacist in Addiction Services throughout Dublin, in particular Domville House, Ballymun and Wellmount Clinic, Finglas.

As well as providing a local healthcare service, Edward is a member of Safer Ballymun and has been involved in community activism to help with local social problems.
