Buncrana Bird Box

Buncrana Bird Box Watch live from a nestbox in Buncrana. A female bluetit has built her nest and has already laid 6 eggs.

She is now incubating them and hopefully they will hatch in about a week or so. The male bluetit will fly into the nest occasionally to bring her food.

Three hungry chicks, ten days since the first one hatched!

Looks like the remaining 3 out of the 6 eggs are not going to hatch. Meanwhile, the 3 hatchlings are getting big and growing feathers. Mother and father are very busy feeding them.

Two baby chicks have now hatched in the Bird Box. There should be one or two more hatching today. Watch carefully. Female continues to multi-task, incubating the remaining eggs while also feeding the babies and herself. Male helps out too bringing in food, mostly baby caterpillers and other larvae and insects.
