📝 Case Study: Donegal County Council launch of the Civic Dollars Project

The project was launched with the goal of creating and supporting behavioural change in the Donegal community, addressing issues of chronic diseases, sedentary behaviour and obesity which were identified through a local survey as priorities.

Launched in May 2023 by Healthy Donegal and the Sláintecare Healthy Communities, the Civic Dollars project is a unique opportunity to demonstrate that improving our mental and physical health; engaging with our local community and supporting our local business community really can be as simple as a walk or time spent in the park.

The Donegal Playground Passport, launched last year, contains a map of Donegal with over forty playgrounds numbered and listed in each Municipal District. Each playground is accompanied by a QR code and GPS coordinates that direct you to the swings and slides! The guide also includes details of some of the free or low-cost activities in the nearby area for those looking to extend their day out.

This year, we updated the guide to include additional playgrounds and promote that they are smoke and v**e free.

The Playground Passports is available for free from local libraries, tourism offices, family resource centres, Donegal County Council HQ and our public service centres or you can download it here!
