May and June are a lovely time to look out for damselflies along the canal beside Oldbridge. On warm, calm days they can often be seen resting on reeds and grasses or darting low over the water in flashes of red, blue and green.

They are delicate little insects and brilliant indicators of a healthy wetland habitats.

Keep an eye out next time you are walking by the water.
