The Order of Malta Ireland is part of an International Organisation working in over 120 countries, with a heritage stretching all the way back to the Knights Hospitallers who were brought to Ireland in 1174 whose mission was to 'serve the sick and the poor'. In 1934 the Irish Association or the Order of Malta Ireland was established and four years later in Galway in 1938, we launched the first Ord

Last night was the launch of National Services Day - Ireland for Drogheda.

National Services Day 2026 - Drogheda: Static Display

Drogheda will, yet again, take centre stage as it proudly hosts National Services Day 2026 on Saturday, September 5th, from 12 pm to 4 pm at Merchants Quay.

This colorful celebration, which drew hundreds to the streets of Drogheda in previous years, honours the dedicated emergency and security services that safeguard our communities day in and day out.

Ireland’s frontline, emergency, and security personnel work tirelessly to protect the public, often under the most challenging conditions. National Services Day offers a unique opportunity for these professionals to connect with the community and express their gratitude for the unwavering public support.

Joining us on the day will be Louth County Fire Service , National Ambulance Service (NAS), Order of Malta Ireland - Ambulance Corps - Drogheda, Óglaigh na hÉireann / Irish Defence Forces, Irish Coast Guard, Drogheda Red Cross Branch, An Garda Síochána Louth, Louth Civil Defence, RNLI, Customs/Revenue, and many more.

We would love to see as many people as possible from Drogheda and the surrounding district come out to support this great day of celebration.

Come on down to Merchants Quay (Drogheda Port Company) on Sept. 5th and meet local personnel from both the full-time and voluntary Emergency Services and Defence Forces, and feel free to check out the various vehicles and equipment on display.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.
