Clondalkin Health Project

Clondalkin Community Health Initiative was set-up in March 2001. The project aims to increase awareness of health issues in Clondalkin, to deliver health programmes, to train local people as trainers and to develop a local health alliance to compliment the delivery of public health services in the area. The initiative sets out to address health inequalities and inequity of access to health service

s in Clondalkin, through the use of community development approaches and principles. We carry out our work by providing the following programme of activities through the year:

Ante-natal and post-natal activities. These include Baby Massage, Mum and Baby Yoga, Mum and Baby Music, Pediatric First Aid, Weaning Workshop. We do this by supporting the Food and Health Project that is funded and supported by the Health Promotion Service. This project includes three programmes - Healthy Food Made Easy(6 sessions), Cool Dudes(5 sessions for 8 - 13 yr olds ) and Heart Health (3 sessions)

Other services and supports:

Managing Stress in the community plays a big part in the work of the project. Group relaxation is provided once a week and holistic healing days are organised throughout the year. Workshops on different mediums to address stress including Mindfulness. General Information
Courses and workshops are organised by demand and in order of priority. The Healthy Living Centre is open to feedback and suggestions at all times. Meeting Space: The centre can provide small to medium space for meetings, counselling sessions, reiki healing or massage to community projects. The Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital Community Midwife Service (Coombe Ante-natal Clinic) takes place in the centre every second Wednesday by appointment only.
