Who is Ayatollah Ali Khamenei: Is the butcher of Terrain still alive ?
Before the current events, here are the well-established facts about him.
Birth and Background: Born in 1939, Khamenei was a cleric and revolutionary who took part in the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
Rise to Power: He became President of Iran from 1981 to 1989 and then was appointed Supreme Leader after the death of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1989. Since then, he was the highest authority in Iran — outranking even elected officials.
Role as Supreme Leader: As supreme leader, he controlled the judiciary, armed forces (including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps), internal security, major foreign policy decisions, and religious institutions — making him one of the most powerful figures in Iran.
When He Came to Power
1981–1989: Served as President of Iran, gaining political experience and influence.
1989: After Khomeini’s death, he was chosen by Iran’s Assembly of Experts to become Supreme Leader, the highest authority in the Islamic Republic. He held this position for nearly 37 years (and possibly longer if some reports of his death prove to be premature).
