🧤 Are gloves a legal requirement when handling food?

No. It is not a legal requirement to wear disposable plastic gloves when handling raw or cooked food.

What’s essential is proper and frequent hand washing to help keep food safe. 🧼
Gloves can be used, but they can also become a source of contamination if they’re not used correctly.

From 14 June 2026, new EU rules apply to honey labelling.
Businesses must clearly indicate country of origin in the principal field of vision – this is the part of the package which is most likely to be seen at first glance by the consumer at the time of purchase.
For blended honey, all countries must be listed in descending order of weight, with percentages.

Honey which is placed on the market or labelled before 14 June 2026 may continue to be marketed until the exhaustion of stocks. Any label applied to prepacked honey after this date must comply with the new origin labelling rules.

These changes are in addition to the mandatory information that must be placed on the label.

⭐Thank you and farewell to Alannah Duffy, Jennifer Holland and Alison Nic Craith ⭐
This summer they made an incredible contribution to the work of the Food Reformulation Task Force.

🛒They supported in the Food Reformulation Task Force’s annual market snapshot, which involved capturing photos of over 4,500 food product labels across a range of food retailers.📷
🍕 They also supported other reformulation monitoring activities, including the sampling of pizzas from the out-of-home foodservice sector.

📊These are just two of the many ways the Task Force actively monitors food reformulation in Ireland.

We wish Alannah, Jennifer and Alison every success in the next chapter of their nutrition careers!
