UCD Fianna Fáil- Kevin Barry Cumann Official Page of the Kevin Barry Cumann UCD. We're always open to new members so check out the page The Kevin Barry Cumann was founded in 1957.

The cumann is a university branch of Ógra Fianna Fáil, the youth wing of Fianna Fáil, the Republican Party and is one of the largest and most active youth political groups in the country. The cumann has enjoyed a long history of political involvement in UCD and nationally and has many notable alumni including Ryan Tubridy, former European commissioner Charlie McCreevy and former Tánaiste Mary Coug

hlan.

Ógra Fianna Fáil is a progressive, republican political youth movement, the largest and most active political youth movement in Ireland. Founded in 1975 as the youth wing of Fianna Fáil, The Republican Party, membership of Ógra is open to anyone between the ages of 16 and 30 inclusive, either in higher education institutions or in any constituency around the island of Ireland.

Ógra allows young people the opportunity to get involved in real politics and engage in real political activity. That is the central role of Ógra and it is important to remember that. Political activities, campaigning, lobbying and promoting our policies are our core roles. Socialising is important too but we need to stay focused on achieving our political aims. Members are actively involved in debating and developing policy on a range of local, national, European and international issues and campaigning on issues that affect young people and their local communities.

The members of the Kevin Barry Cumann, Fianna Fáil UCD, are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Rory O’Hanlon.

Dr. O’Hanlon gave a lifetime of service to Ireland and to Fianna Fáil, serving the people of Cavan Monaghan as a TD for over three decades, as Minister for Health, Minister for the Environment, and later as Ceann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann. His dedication to public life, his integrity, and his deep commitment to community are a lasting example to all young members of our party.

Before his distinguished political career, he studied medicine in UCD and went on to serve his community as a doctor, bringing compassion and care into everything he did. These qualities defined both his life in medicine and in politics.

As students and young members of Fianna Fáil in UCD, we are especially proud to follow in the footsteps of a man who studied here and never lost sight of the importance of service, humility, and leadership.

We are coming closer and closer to the end of the year but fear not, there is plenty yet to come!

Meet us for a few drinks on Wednesday night to discuss what’s next for the KBC.

Our AGM isn’t too far away, and we are sure the next few weeks will be dramatic for the Cumann.

KBC Barcelona Visit🙌🎬

The Kevin Barry Cumann were thrilled to be able to undergo our first international trip in several years last week.

15 members of the Cumann travelled to Barcelona on a fact finding mission, where we met with several of our LYMEC colleagues from the JNC!

The trip was engaging and informative and we were delighted to be hosted by politicians of the caliber of President Josep Rulli, Chair of the Parliament Gloria Freixa and former Foreign Affairs Minister Victòria Alsina.

We would like to thank our Ógra Interntional Officer for all his help in facilitating the visit.

The trip served as a major highlight from the year, and we look forward to organising similar events as a unit in the future.

Until then, ar aghaidh le KBC🇮🇪

Táimid sásta fáilte a chur roimh John Connolly TD, Naoise’ Ó Cearúil TD agus Shane Curley Seanadóir! Beidh plé againn ar todhchaí na Gaeilge trí Ghaeilge agus Béarla. Mar is eol do chách, tá an Ghaeilge ag dul ó neart go neart le déanaí agus tá sé rí-thábhachtach go mbeadh muid in ann í a chaomhnú ach ní amháin sin, í a fhorbairt chomh maith. Beidh deis cainte ag an triúr ar a dtuairimí faoin teanga agus céard is féidir linn a dhéanamh fúithi.

We’re happy to welcome John Connolly TD, Naoise Ó’ Cearúil TD and Shane Curley Senator! We will have a discussion on the future of the Irish language in Irish and English. As has become increasingly clear in recent years, Irish is going from strength to strength and it’s of upmost importance that we can protect her but also help grow her. The three politicians will have the opportunity to speak on their opinions about the language and what we can do to help it.

Massive thanks to everybody who attended the KBC Pub Quiz in aid of the Irish Cancer Society on Monday.

We had a phenomenal crowd and ended up raising €947 for the charity.

A special thank you is in order for Cllr Michael Clark, Cllr Fiona Murray and Cllr Liam Dockery who contributed to the event and without whom the event would not have been possible.

Looking forward to seeing ye all again this week!
