Creating a Collage of Courage 💜
Volunteers from our community recently came together to participate in two art workshops at IADT.
Volunteers from all backgrounds were invited to create together, reflect on stories of courage and belonging, and contribute to a collective artwork that will be exhibited during Refugee Week this June, in the DLR Lexicon Library.
The workshop was facilitated by Misha Zehra Abbas, a Pakistani-Saudi Arabian artist and recent IADT MA graduate. Misha guided participants through the creation of colourful motifs — each one expressing the unique voice and story of its creator, while becoming part of a larger shared artwork.
A huge thank you to Misha for bringing her enthusiasm and creativity, and for creating a welcoming and inspiring environment for the volunteers.
To the wonderful volunteers: we were so delighted that you joined in and gave your time and energy to this activity. Thank you for being open to connecting with your community through creativity!
A special thank you also to Sarah McDonagh, IADT Community Engagement Officer, for her fantastic support in providing space for the workshop and helping us get this off the ground through her commitment and enthusiasm!
