Yesterday, the Embassy of Chile in Ireland had a stand in the Arts Building at Trinity College Dublin, promoting the Working Holiday Agreement between Chile and Ireland.

This programme is a great opportunity for young Irish people aged 18 to 30 to live, work and travel in Chile for up to 12 months, being a unique way to experience a new culture, improve their Spanish, and gain international work experience.

Whether you’re interested in exploring Glaciers, Santiago, the Atacama Desert or ski resorts, this visa lets you combine travel with short term work during your stay.

The Ambassador of Chile Constanza Figueroa was delighted to take part in a tree-planting event at Powerscourt Estate to mark International Women’s Day and National Tree Week. She was invited to plant a tree alongside a group of inspiring women, helping to launch a new native Irish mini forest that will become a living legacy for biodiversity and future generations.

The planting took place along Monkey Puzzle Avenue, a meaningful location as the Monkey Puzzle tree (Araucaria araucana) is native to Chile, symbolising a special connection between Chile and Ireland through nature.

When complete, the plantation will include 1,800 native Irish trees, supporting wildlife and strengthening biodiversity across the Estate.

We thank Powerscourt Estate for the invitation and their commitment to environmental sustainability.

Today, the Ambassador of Chile Constanza Figueroa, had the honour of visiting Trinity College Dublin, following a kind invitation to meet with Professor Carmel O’Sullivan Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and Professor Omar García Head of School, School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies

The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to discuss strengthening cooperation between Chile and Ireland in the field of higher education. Conversations centred on expanding access to information for Irish university students about Chile — including academic opportunities, exchanges, and areas of collaboration — as well as identifying concrete initiatives and joint projects to develop throughout the year.

The Embassy of Chile values this important dialogue and looks forward to deepening engagement with Trinity College Dublin, fostering meaningful academic partnerships, and creating new opportunities for students in both countries.
