The Embassy of Chile in Ireland had the pleasure of organising a special evening in honour of the Ballet de Santiago, to mark its performance of Swan Lake at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin.

Our Embassy would like to thank the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Daryl Barron, and his wife; Senator Shane Curley; members of the diplomatic corps; and representatives from Ireland’s academic, cultural and business communities for their attendance.

Our most sincere congratulations to the members of the Ballet de Santiago and its director, César Morales, for an absolutely spectacular performance, showcasing the very best of Chilean talent.

A huge thank you also to the team at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre for their warm welcome and for making this unforgettable evening possible.

The Embassy of Chile in Ireland commemorates the 248th anniversary of the birth of General Bernardo O’Higgins, Founding Father of Chile.
To mark the occasion, a formal wreath-laying ceremony was held at the monument dedicated to his memory in Merrion Square Park, Dublin. At the ceremony, Her Excellency Ambassador Constanza Figueroa delivered a speech highlighting the lasting legacy of the Libertador, and the historical intersections between South American independence and Irish heritage.
The event was attended by Senator Shane Curley, Ms Rachel Hanna, representing the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland, H. E. Jaime Cacho-Sousa, Ambassador of Peru, Professor James O’Higgins Norman, among others.
Born on August 20, 1778, Bernardo O’Higgins Riquelme played a pivotal role in the Chilean War of Independence. His paternal Irish linege remains a cornerstone of the deep cultural and diplomatic ties that continue to unite Chile and Ireland today.

We’re proud to see The Irish Times praise Chile’s premier dance company, Ballet de Santiago, calling last night’s performance “the most beguiling Swan Dublin has seen in years.”

Under the artistic direction of César Morales, the company is making its Irish debut this week at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, accompanied live by the fantastic RTÉ Concert Orchestra.

Congratulations to the dancers, the artistic director, and the entire team behind this unforgettable debut!

We extend our special recognition and thanks to Gabriela Hucke, whose Rapa Nui heritage and deep ties to Ireland beautifully bridge our cultures, for her invaluable dedication in securing the screening rights for this important piece of Rapa Nui cinema.
We also thank the Instituto Cervantes for generously providing their venue and supporting the promotion of Chilean culture in Ireland.

H.E. Ambassador Constanza Figueroa had the great privilege of meeting representatives from Special Olympics Ireland during a visit to the RDS last weekend.
It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate their dedication as the countdown begins for the 2027 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Santiago, Chile.

Under the artistic direction of César Morales, this historic performance marks a milestone in Chilean cultural pride and promotes our country’s creative excellence on the world stage.

Her Excellency Ambassador Constanza Figueroa met today with Senator Shane Curley at Leinster House. Senator Curley serves as the Convenor of the Chile-Ireland Interparliamentary Group. During their meeting, they emphasised the vital role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral ties. They also discussed strategic future steps to further increase cooperation and enhance the relationship between Chile and Ireland.

The Ambassador of Chile Constanza Figueroa was honoured to attend ‘Ireland and the Universal Periodic Review – Strengthening Children’s Rights’, event hosted by the Ombudsman for Children's Office.
It was a valuable opportunity to collaborate with diplomats, young people, and colleagues to learn more about critical issues affecting youth, including education, health, online safety, disability, and social inclusion.
