Gisteren vond de opening plaats van de tentoonstelling “50 jaar Ierse rockmuziek door de lenzen van Nederlandse fotografen” in de dlr Lexicon in Dún Laoghaire.

Het was geweldig om zoveel muziekliefhebbers, fotografen en culturele partners samen te zien komen om de Ierse rockmuziek te vieren door de ogen van zes gerenommeerde Nederlandse fotografen.

Ook onze plaatsvervangend ambassadeur Nora Dessing was aanwezig bij de officiële opening en sprak met de deelnemende fotografen en genodigden.

De tentoonstelling toont iconische beelden van artiesten als U2, Sinéad O’Connor, Rory Gallagher, Van Morrison, Bob Geldof, Hozier en vele anderen, met werk van Paul Bergen, Gijsbert Hanekroot, Govert de Roos, Patricia Steur, Andreas Terlaak en Rob Verhorst.

De tentoonstelling in Dún Laoghaire is nog te bezoeken tot en met 30 juni 2026 en reist daarna verder naar Cork en komt weer terug naar Dublin later dit jaar.

Van harte gefeliciteerd aan Ramon Music Exhibitions en alle betrokkenen die deze tentoonstelling naar Ierland hebben gebracht. 🎸📸

A wonderful opening yesterday of the exhibition “50 Years of Irish Rock Through the Lens of Dutch Photographers” at the dlr Lexicon in Dún Laoghaire.

It was great to see so many music lovers, photographers, and cultural partners come together to celebrate the rich history of Irish rock music through the eyes of six renowned Dutch photographers.

We were also delighted that our Deputy Ambassador Nora Dessing could attend the official opening and meet with the participating photographers and guests.

The exhibition features iconic images of artists including U2, Sinéad O’Connor, Rory Gallagher, Van Morrison, Bob Geldof, Hozier and many more, with works by Paul Bergen, Gijsbert Hanekroot, Govert de Roos, Patricia Steur, Andreas Terlaak and Rob Verhorst.

The exhibition in Dún Laoghaire runs until 30 June 2026 before travelling onwards to Cork and Dublin later this year.

Vandaag is internationale dag tegen Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).

Het is een dag om aandacht te vragen voor voortdurende mensenrechtenschendingen, terwijl we tegelijkertijd de diversiteit van de LGBTQ-gemeenschap wereldwijd vieren.

Over de hele wereld worden LGBTQ-personen nog steeds gediscrimineerd. Iedereen verdient het om vrij en authentiek te leven, ongeacht wie ze zijn of van wie ze houden.

In Ierland en Nederland bestaat een sterke gedeelde inzet voor gelijkheid. Nederland was het eerste land ter wereld dat het huwelijk tussen personen van hetzelfde geslacht legaliseerde in 2001. In 2015 schreef Ierland geschiedenis toen een meerderheid via een referendum vóór huwelijksgelijkheid stemde, een mijlpaal voor inclusie en mensenrechten.

Gelijke rechten staan centraal in een democratie.

Toen onze ambassade voorzitter was van het “Diplomats for Equality Network in Dublin” (2023), werd deze inzet ook zichtbaar gemaakt via de Amsterdam Rainbow Dress als symbool van zichtbaarheid en solidariteit. 🏳️‍🌈

Today is IDAHOBIT. The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia.

It is a day to raise awareness of ongoing human rights violations while celebrating LGBTQ diversity worldwide.

Across the world, LGBTQ people still face discrimination, violence, and in some countries criminalisation. Everyone deserves to live freely and authentically, no matter who they are or whom they love.

In Ireland and in the Netherlands there is a strong shared commitment to equality. The Netherlands was the first country to legalise same-sex marriage in 2001. In 2015, Ireland made history when a majority voted in favour of marriage equality by referendum. A landmark moment for inclusion and human rights.

We can truly say that equal rights are at the heart of democracy.

When our embassy chaired the Diplomats for Equality Network in Dublin (2023), this commitment was also marked through the Amsterdam Rainbow Dress as a symbol of visibility and solidarity. 🏳️‍🌈

Opening van fototentoonstelling “50 jaar Ierse rock muziek door de lenzen van Nederlandse fotografen” op 28 mei om 16:00 uur in de dlr Lexicon in Dún Laoghaire.

Alle deelnemende fotografen zullen aanwezig zijn tijdens de officiële opening.

Iedereen welkom, geen registratie nodig.

Ramon Music Exhibitions heeft samen met zes gerenommeerde Nederlandse fotografen een collectie foto’s samengesteld ter ere van 50 jaar Ierse rock, gezien door hun unieke lenzen.

Iconische foto’s van Ierse artiesten zoals U2, Sinéad O'Connor, Rory Gallagher, Van Morrison, Bob Geldof, Hozier en vele anderen.

Voor deze tentoonstelling hebben Nederlandse fotografen Paul Bergen, Gijsbert Hanekroot, Govert de Roos, Patricia Steur, Andreas Terlaak en Rob Verhorst diep in hun archieven gegraven om hun beste portretten en livefoto’s van Ierse muzieklegendes te selecteren.
