of Pakistan Ireland bilateral Cooperation in Healthcare Sector #
A visiting delegation of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) led by Prof Muhamad Shoaib Shafi and Senior Vice President Prof Kahlid Gondal called on Ambassador Mariam Aftab. The delegation was also comprised heads/ representatives of the Irish institutions including Royal Colleges of Ireland and the Health Services Executive (HSE).
During the visit, the President and Vice president of CPSP briefed the ambassador about CPSP’s various initiatives and efforts across various regions including the ongoing collaboration with the Royal Colleges and the HSE for training of the Pakistani doctors in Ireland. The delegation appreciated the Embassy’s consistent support for promotion of bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Ireland in healthcare sector.
The Ambassador welcomed the delegation to the Embassy. She appraised the delegation about Pakistan Ireland bilateral relations and growing cooperation in various areas. While appreciating the role and contribution of the Pakistani healthcare professionals in Ireland, the Ambassador stated that their services were duly acknowledged at leadership and people level across Ireland. The Ambassador proudly shared that in her meeting with the Irish President Catherine Connolly in January this year, President Connolly lauded the services of the Pakistani doctors in Ireland.
The Ambassador also appreciated CPSP/HSE initiative for training of the Pakistani doctors which was mutually beneficial for the two countries and a brain gain for Pakistan. She congratulated the CPSP leadership and team for their remarkable work towards elevating Pakistan's international profile in the medical community.
The Ambassador emphasized the need on intensifying these partnerships and cooperation. She assured the delegation about Embassy’s full support towards further strengthening of Pakistan Ireland bilateral cooperation in healthcare sector.
