The Norma Smurfit Library in the National College of Ireland offers information services to staff and registered students of NCI. This includes having thousands of resources- including books, journals, articles, database subscriptions and daily newspapers. The library also offers IT facilities in the form of WiFi, PCs, printers, photocopiers, scanners and assistive technology. Specialist subject a

reas include industrial relations, human resource management, finance, accounting, trade union studies and computing. The library also offers external membership for non NCI staff and students, available for a fee on an annual basis. A group meeting room is also available for group study and can be booked at the library services desk. Not to mention the staff- we’re here to help, so please don’t hesitate to ask if you need assistance!

Between 24th of August and 12th September the library has reduced opening hours. 🕓
Monday to Friday the 4th floor is open 9am to 6pm. The 5th floor continues to be open 9am to 8pm. 📚

The library catalogue will be unavailable from 6pm to 11pm this evening (20/08/2026) due to essential maintenance work. Apologies for the inconvenience.

The library 4th floor will be closing at 6pm on Friday 17th July. The 5th floor will be open as normal from 9am to 8pm. 😀📚📖

Our summer opening hours are here! The library will be open 9:00AM to 8:00PM Monday to Friday, 10:00AM to 5:00PM on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays until further notice.

The library will be closed on Saturday 30th May, Sunday 31st May and Monday 1st June for the June Bank Holiday. The fourth floor will be closed for a staff event on Friday 29th May, but the fifth floor will remain open as normal. We will return to our normal opening hours from Tuesday 2nd June. Enjoy the bank holiday 🌻🌤

The library will be closed on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday (3rd April, 5th April, 6th April). We will be open as normal on Easter Saturday (4th April) and from Tuesday 7th April onwards. Happy Easter and enjoy the break 🐰🌸
