🇮🇪 愛爾蘭 6 月長週末開始！

一連三天的假期，在愛爾蘭的朋友有什麼計畫呢？除了全長超過 2,500 公里、享譽國際的 #野性大西洋之路，愛爾蘭還擁有超過 80 處獲得 #藍旗 認證的海灘與碼頭。像是都柏林的 Seapoint、科克的 Inchydoney Beach，以及高威的 Salthill Beach，都是受歡迎的好去處。

同一時間，台灣北部的 #福隆沙雕藝術季 也已熱鬧登場 🏖 今年集結 15 位國內外沙雕藝術家，打造超過 40 座以 #環球夏日沙雕派對 為主題的作品，等待大家前往探索。

The June Bank Holiday weekend has arrived in Ireland ☘

With a three-day weekend, what are your plans?

Beyond the world-famous stretching over 2,500 km, Ireland is also home to more than 80 certified beaches and marinas. Popular destinations include Seapoint in Dublin, Inchydoney Beach in Cork, and Salthill Beach in Galway.

At the same time, Taiwan’s 🇹🇼 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival is already underway. This year, 15 artists from Taiwan and abroad have created more than 40 sculptures under the theme “Global Summer Sand Party,” featuring beloved characters and scenes ranging from Jurassic Park to Shrek. 😎

愛爾蘭 ☘ 這週二寫下 5 月高溫紀錄，許多人也把握機會在陽光下海泳、野餐，或坐在戶外長椅上悠閒閱讀——手上的讀物，或許正是上週獲得國際布克獎的《 #臺灣漫遊錄》🤓

作者楊双子與譯者金翎透過這部作品將台灣帶入全球視野，eason、Dubray 等愛爾蘭大型書店官網也顯示待補貨，熱潮持續延燒 🔥 而各地讀者除了關注書中人物情感、時代樣貌和歷史意義外，也對悉心描繪的一道道食物深感好奇。其中夏季限定的 #麻芛湯（麻薏湯），可能許多台灣人都還未曾品嚐。

農業部分享，台灣於日治時期大量種植 #黃麻，用於製作麻布與麻繩；過程中剩餘的嫩葉，農民也充分運用，在反覆搓揉清洗後加入地瓜、魩仔魚一起熬煮，成為一碗帶著苦甘滋味的消暑湯品。如今的麻薏湯，已改用苦味較低的 #甜麻 製作，滋味與過去或許不同，但飲食承載的文化記憶仍持續流傳。

Ireland recorded its hottest May temperature this Tuesday, and many people have been making the most of the sunshine — swimming in the sea 🏊‍♀️, enjoying picnics 🧺, or simply sitting on park benches with a good book in hand 📖. And perhaps, for some readers, that book is the International -winning 🤓

Through this remarkable novel, author Yáng Shuāng-zǐ and translator Lin King have brought Taiwan 🇹🇼 into the global literary spotlight. Major Irish bookstores such as Eason and Dubray are already showing the title as temporarily out of stock, as interest in the book continues to grow.

Readers around the world have been drawn not only to the story’s characters, emotions, and historical setting, but also to the vivid descriptions of Taiwanese food throughout the novel. One dish in particular — soup (麻芛湯／麻薏湯), a seasonal summer specialty — may even be unfamiliar to many people in Taiwan today.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Agriculture recently shared that during the Japanese colonial period, was widely cultivated in Taiwan for making sacks and rope. Rather than wasting the leftover tender leaves 🌿, farmers carefully washed and kneaded them before cooking them with sweet potato and whitebait into a refreshing soup with a distinct flavor.

Today’s máyì soup is usually made with a milder variety known as “sweet jute,” giving it a gentler taste than in the past. Yet the cultural memory carried through the dish continues to live on.

🎙 民主台灣丨南風暖歌

上週末，一年一度的 Luke Kelly 音樂節在都柏林登場；而在台灣屏東， #總統直選30週年 紀念音樂會也盛大舉行。

長達 2 小時的節目以五大主軸層層鋪陳，帶領現場兩千多位觀眾與線上來自世界各地的朋友，一起回望台灣民主進程。賴清德總統與多國駐台使節也在台下，共同聆聽來自不同族群與世代交織的聲音。

表演者們以國語、台語、客語及多元原住民族語唱出對土地的情感；來自紐西蘭的 #毛利 文化團體 Te Pā Tū，以及 #日本沖繩 樂團 The Sakishima meeting，也透過各自傳統樂音，傳遞台灣與民主自由夥伴間跨越海洋的深厚情誼。

Last weekend, ☘ welcomed the annual Luke Kelly Festival, while Taiwan marked the 30th anniversary of its first direct presidential election 🗳 with a large-scale concert in .

The two-hour program brought together more than 2,000 audience on site, alongside viewers tuning in from around the world 🌐, to reflect on Taiwan’s democratic journey. President Lai Ching-te and foreign representatives stationed in Taiwan also attended the concert, listening to voices and stories woven together through music. 🎵

Through music in Mandarin, Taiwanese, Hakka, and Indigenous languages, performers reflected Taiwan’s democratic journey and cultural diversity. International guests, including cultural group Te Pā Tū from New Zealand and band The Sakishima meeting from Japan, also joined the event, sharing traditions and friendship across the ocean. 🌊

Taiwan’s diverse voices continue to flourish through freedom and democracy — coming together to create new harmonies for future generations.

📍支持台灣有意義參與國際組織，以貢獻國際社會福祉。

recommendation report passed in support of Taiwan’s meaningful international participation & opposing distortion of UNGA Resolution 2758💪🇪🇺

The recommendation details the European Union’s position on the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), reiterating support for Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international organizations and demonstrating the European Parliament's support for the maintenance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.

The recommendation:
📍underlines that UNGA Resolution 2758 neither determines the sovereignty of Taiwan nor mentions Taiwan; opposes the resolution being used to exclude Taiwan from the international system;
📍urges the EU to step up support for Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international organizations for the benefit of the international community;
📍opposes any unilateral change to the status quo by coercion or force;
📍recommends that the EU engage in diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea.

MOFA thanks the European Parliament for continuing to advocate for Taiwan’s international participation. Taiwan will further strengthen coordination with the EU and other like-minded partners to jointly uphold the rules-based international order and defend the values of democracy, freedom, and human rights. It will continue to actively contribute to the international community and strive for peace, security, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and around the world.🤝

Luke Kelly Festival is in town 🎤

西城男孩與小紅莓是全球聞名的愛爾蘭音樂團體，而在民謠界中， 也是一代傳奇。其中擔任主唱與班鳩琴手的 Luke Kelly，至今仍被視為都柏林記憶與靈魂的象徵之一。

出生於都柏林北區的工人家庭， 年輕時曾赴英國工作，後來回到愛爾蘭投入民謠音樂與社會運動。1962 年，他與團員共同創立 The Dubliners，並透過粗曠與滄桑的聲線，唱出鄉愁、凡人的故事與情感，還有對愛爾蘭的身分與文化認同。

Born into a working-class family in north Dublin, spent part of his early life working in the UK before returning to Ireland to pursue folk music and engage with social awareness themes. In 1962, he co-founded The Dubliners, and through his distinctive, raw and emotive voice, he gave expression to themes of nostalgia, everyday life, and Irish identity.

Taiwan at the Heart of the Global AI Boom

CEO Lisa Su arrived in Taiwan on 20 May and met with industry partners, including Chairman C.C. Wei. Earlier today, AMD announced plans to invest more than US$10 billion in Taiwan. She noted that building AI infrastructure requires massive investment and close collaboration across the entire ecosystem, stressing that AMD has excellent partners in Taiwan. 🙌

Although CEO Su will not attend Taipei 2026 this year, many global tech leaders — including NVIDIA CEO — are expected to visit Taiwan and give keynote speeches for the event.

As technologies and applications continue to evolve rapidly, Taiwan’s integrated supply chain and strong R&D capabilities continue to drive global innovation and collaboration forward. 😉
