🏡193 new homes for North County Dublin

The The Land Development Agency has announced the start of construction on 193 affordable and social homes at Golding Green, Kinsealy in North County Dublin.

🚲The development is located close to schools, public transport and local amenities alongside a creche, football pitch and a cycle greenway.

The project is being delivered in partnership with Fingal County Council and will help more people access affordable homes in a well-connected and sustainable community.

Lydon has been appointed as development partner and will deliver the scheme in a single phase, with all homes expected to be completed in 2028.

🏠🚒€7.4 million invested in homes and public safety across Cavan

Minister James Browne TD visited County Cavan to officially open housing developments in Cavan Town and Belturbet, representing an investment of €5.67 million in new and refurbished homes. The Minister also opened the new Ballyjamesduff Fire Station, a modern facility delivered through a €1.75 million investment.

These projects highlight the Governments commitment to investing in essential infrastructure that supports communities, increases housing supply and strengthens local emergency services.

🏠 410 new homes for Bishopstown, Cork

A significant milestone for housing delivery in Cork today as Tánaiste and Minister for Finance, Simon Harris TD, turned the sod on a new 410 home development in Bishopstown.

Supported by Home Building Finance Ireland (HBFI) and developed by Bridgewater Construction, this mixed tenure development will provide much needed homes for individuals and families in Cork City, supporting the delivery of sustainable communities and increasing housing supply.

Speaking about the development, Minister James Browne TD said
“Last year my Department confirmed €17m in funding for the delivery of 79 new Cost Rental homes and over €7m in funding to deliver 60 social homes by Respond AHB at nearby Waterfall Heights in Ardarostig.
“The apartments across both phases of the scheme are expected to be brought forward with the support of the Croí Cónaithe subvention - a vital measure that is helping to close viability gaps and ensure that these much-needed homes can be delivered for communities without delay.”

Through continued partnership across Government and with delivery partners on the ground, we’re accelerating the delivery of homes and building communities right across the country.

James Browne TD has visited Grand Canal Dock on the historic occasion of the installation of new Sea Lock Gates at Camden Lock. The work is being undertaken by Waterways Ireland capital works funding, provided by Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

The sea lock gates themselves are a feat of engineering. The four bespoke fifteen-tonne gates are made from Ekki timber, sourced from the Congo and assembled in Holland by specialist craftspeople. They were then disassembled and shipped to Dublin, where they were reassembled for installation. The project included specialist handcrafted stone masonry repairs to the 230-year-old granite lock chamber walls and the precision customisation of the gates to match the contours of the lock walls to ensure water tightness.

Grand Canal Dock was the world’s largest dock when it opened in 1796. A group of three Sea Locks connect the dock to the River Liffey and onwards to the Irish Sea. The largest, Camden Lock, has not been operational since 2010.

The installation of the Sea Lock gates is a once in a lifetime event as the new gates are expected to be operational for up to 50 years.

The ambitious restoration project to restore Camden Lock to its former glory will re-open Grand Canal Dock basin to Tall Ships and other larger and sea-faring craft, while maintaining, preserving, and protecting a unique heritage asset, further contributing to the regeneration of Grand Canal Dock.

🐾🌊 New ‘Dogs on Leads’ campaign launched at Dublin Bay

Minister Christopher O'Sullivan TD has today launched a new National Parks and Wildlife Service campaign, encouraging dog owners to keep dogs on a lead in Dublin Bay’s coastal areas.

The campaign focuses on public engagement with dog owners by raising awareness to keep dogs on a lead in coastal areas to help protect crucial habitats for wildlife.

Dublin Bay and much of the coastline around Dublin is protected under the EU Habitats and Birds Directives for its important coastal wildlife.

600 new homes for Dublin 11 🏡

The Land Development Agency has today announced the acquisition of a 3.88 hectare site in Jamestown Industrial Estate, Dublin 11, with the potential for 600 homes.

🚆 The site has excellent transport links and is located off the N2 near the M50 junction 5

🏡The development will include residential and associated commercial uses

🏠 13,000 new Dublin homes now possible through nine major LDA land acquisitions in past 3 years.

The LDA is the State’s affordable housing delivery body. It delivers affordable homes on State-owned or acquired land and through homebuilder partnerships as part of its Project Tosaigh initiative.

This week is National Biodiversity Week, and today Minister for Nature, Heritage and Biodiversity Christopher O'Sullivan TD , has announced €3 million in funding under the Local Biodiversity Action Fund 2026.

209 projects are allocated funding this year, including actions for nature such as:

tackling invasive species,
conservation of species including bats and barn owls,
surveying and monitoring of habitats
restoration of habitats
awareness raising of biodiversity, through events and the arts.

One of the projects funded this year is Louth County Council Baltray Little Terns Conservation Project. The project is making a significant impact on the future of this ground nesting bird with almost 250 fledglings produced last year.

Our thanks to local authorities and the Biodiversity Officers Network for their work on these important projects for nature. All of these actions are helping to deliver Ireland’s fourth National Biodiversity Action Plan!

👷Yesterday, Tánaiste Simon Harris TD and Minister for Housing James Browne TD turned sod on €90m development delivering 6️⃣3️⃣5️⃣ social, starter purchase and private homes.

The Foothills, Killinarden project will include:
🏘️372 Starter Homes available for purchase at a minimum 15% below local market value, supported by €37.2 million in Government funding through the Affordable Housing Fund.

🏘️125 new social homes will be provided, backed by almost €53 million in funding from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, with further support from the Housing Finance Agency.
